Julien Bompard is an excellent French chef. Wonderful soup and beef tenderloin. Good selection of wine. A pity he will be taking a sabbatical by end Jan 2013.
On the ground floor of the Old Water Boat House, next to the Fullerton Hotel, Chef Julien Bompard has been cooking up a storm for some years. Restaurant had nice cozy atmosphere. Service was pleasant. However, quality of food was not up to expectations after having such great reviews.
We are a family of three adults and each ordered an appetizer and main dish. We shared a two-person portion dessert truffle (steam egg white with sweet Hot chocolate source). Overall food serving portion was smaller than expected. The hot chocolate source was too sweet hence the dessert came out was somewhat disappointed!
we fancied an up market, smart western style meal on this occaision and the restaurant lived up to this. The setting is great, but we did feel it was expensive
I travel often to Singapore and always try to visit St. Julien. Chef Bompard serves up true French cuisine and is always excellent. I think the serving sizes are fine. Flavors and textures are always perfect. It is pricey--and, you get what you pay for.
