Bookworm is a fantastic western restaurant in Chengdu. Being able to eat and read books here is a bonus but the real thing that makes this place an absolute gem is the atmosphere. It is a great community and the food is also good.
As with any place it can be hit or miss but you hardly ever get a...

What can I say - The Bookworm is An Institution in Chengdu. Regular clientele, quasi intellectual vibe, wonderful staff and pretty good food make it a mainstay of my life in Chengdu. The salmon dinner is great - other dishes can be a little variable in outcome. That's okay - the Literary Festival, ambiance and funk-factor make up for any...

The shelves of books and comfortable seating provide a great place to spend an afternoon. Although the drinks are a little pricey and somewhat average in taste, it's worth it if you need a place to while away the day or get some work done. The food is perhaps a bit unexceptional, but typically not disappointing either. The pizza may...

If you're looking for a port in the city storm, The Bookworm can be one of those places. Walls painted with warm colors, lined with all sorts of shelves of books, that you can check out with an inexpensive membership (about $30 for 6 mos), surround you while you drink and/or dine on a blended West/East cuisine. During the month...

The Bookworm is a wonderful place for food, coffee and meeting up with friends. The place is warm and service is friendly. There is a huge expat community here as well.
in Chengdu, as like in any cities in China, everywhere is noisy....so to find a quiet peaceful cafe like Bookworm is a gem ! The Latte is ok, But their other mixers or concoctions seem more interesting ie Ginger Apple drink. Wifi is good.
I live 45 minutes outside of Chengdu. Whenever I am in the city I stop at the Bookworm. For an expat nothing netter then lamb chop or drinks that are available. Not to mention English books to buy or borrow and a nice atmosphere to just to kick back. Depending on the night you stop you are sure find something...

I loved The Bookworm, and ate here often during my three months in Chengdu. Yes, the prices are considerably higher than those in the Chinese restaurants here in town, but with the exchange rate of the USD to the kwai, no meal will cost you over $20 US. One memorable night the restaurant offered bbq, which consisted of spare ribs,...

There's absolutely nothing in this restaurant that can be had for less than 15 yuan ($2.50). The prices are ridiculous by U.S. standards, and unfathomable by Chinese standards. You can't even get a decent cup of tea for less than 25 yuan. You have to buy a library membership to check books out, and their selection isn't that great. The...
