The grill at the Golden Light has been seasoned for over 50 years....how can you deny that??? This is simple food at its best, greasy....???, if that means a bun grilled in fat, a patty fresh and tasty, french fries made fresh and dripping with oil..... I'll take "greasy" any day!!! If you are looking for Haute Cuisine....Move on down... More

This is a monthly trip. I love there cheeseburgers and fries. Small place but it is crammed full at lunch. Great wait staff that always remembers a face

This place is what Amarillo is about. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Great place to have lunch, dinner and drinks. Live music at night. I wish more places were like the Golden Light.

Great burgers at an affordable price. Fresh cut fries and cheap beer. The grill has been seasoned for 50 years...better than most, for a better price!

We have traveled the entire length of Route 66 and have eaten at a lot of 66 eateries. I had the bacon cheeseburger, which was fine, and my wife had the patty melt with swiss cheese and green chile, which was excellent. We got a small basket of fries, which was not all that small and they were just as... More

I know this place is old and has been on Route 66 forever, but I wasn't impressed with the selection of food or the taste of it either. The dining room was dark and dingy like a bar, the service was good, but the food was so greasy and blah.

Local dive is what we call this type of place. Great juicy burgers and fries and add a Dos XX and you have yourself a great mid day lunch. Located on 6th street we usually go bumming around the local shops and stop in for lunch.

We at lunch at the Golden Light while visiting the shops along 6th. The food was good, and the service was competent. It's not really a place for people with kids, but is a fine choice for adults in the area.

Get the green chili burger! If you're a person who appreciates a great burger in a great atmosphere; (perhaps a little cold beer?) then you will love the Golden Light. Great service, great people. Definitely a unique place. Wish there were more like these around. Killer music at night!

They make their burgers like they should be made - on the flat grill like we had back in the day. Buns are warmed on the grill also. Just darn right yummy burgers. Fries are made from scratch and are delicious! This is a bar/grill and it is small so if you are looking for fancy - this isn't it... More
