The restaurant first took shape in 1975 when Jeffrey Weinberger and Ron and Peggy Weiss, friends from student days at the University of Texas, pooled their interests, talents, and enthusiasm with three other pals to open an intimate neighborhood bistro in Austin, such as they had encountered in their travels. They were part of the first wave of new American cuisine, and over the years they

The decor and "experience" was wonderful!! Miss the "old" Jeffery's crispy oysters on a potato chip and the quail appetizers, but over all the food was very good............but VERY EXPENSIVE.......even during the "one hour only" Happy Hour!!! Love the new look, but sure do miss the previous Jeffery's menu and prices!!! Hope the expensive menu doesn't hurt the business in...

Way over priced for a soggy, sloppy hamburger and french fries. The steak was cooked to order if you like tasteless meat. Best thing on the menu was dessert $8 for 1/4 cup of sorbet

We had the best dinner...we eat here several times a year but the desserts are the best. You can go here and ONLY eat dessert because they know some folks come for the best dish.

The food is always as good as it gets here in Austin. Understated elegance. It has new ownership and I haven't been there since it changed hands but word has it that it is as good as ever.

Jeffrey's has been on the top of lists forever. For some reason, I have never remembered a meal there. Nothing stood out. Not service, not food, not atmosphere. I've been there a few times, too. Hmmm. Well, I guess I don't remember anything BAD. Is that a plus?
