Loved the cooling breeze that soothed us as we sat on the balcony and were served by such helpful young staff. Clean toilet . Felt the friendliness
The social enterprise of the gecko cafe (higher wages and profit share between the staff) seems to be working very well, the place looks cool (and clean !) and has a nice atmosphere, food tasted really good and the staff were really friendly and seemed genuinly happy to work there.
4 of us had dinner there and we have to say, its probably one of the best, if not the best, we had in Battembang. The restaurant is upstairs in an colonial building with the tables situated along the balcony. The menu is a concise balance between Khmer and western food and the service a cut above the usual friendly... More
My friends and I stumbled upon Gecko Cafe when we were trawling the streets at night. The place is really cute and all the staff are super (if not overly) friendly and I can see why. Lots of smiles, giggles and huge efforts to make sure we enjoyed ourselves, and we did. Food was brilliant, wine good and the service just fantastic. A must for anyone travelling to Battambang. It is a training centre for young people in cooking and service.
Absolutely excellent cafe, the food was terrific and the staff were the loveliest girls. My husband and I ate here on 3 separate occasions and every meal and beer were served with a happy smile and hello from the entire cafe. Definitely go here, great verandah to watch the world go by.
We went here for lunch and was soo nice great service and food with really friendly staff, went back for dinner and was a bit of a disappointment there where bugs/flys everywhere loads of them made it a pretty rushed dinner I saw a few people complain and I asked for mosquito candle or incents but don't think they really... Situated on the balcony of a French-colonial corner building, with nice view and feel. Good service, excellent icy coconut shakes and pizza. Breakfasts and coffee not done so well, but very good for drinks and Tex-Mex dinners.
A lovely old colonial building right in the centre of town. Since our last visit about a year ago we thought that the menu had become very limited. The staff are always friendly and helpful and looked after us very well.
