saravana bhavan in janpath serves wonderful south indian vegetarian food. very frequented by locals, sometimes you have to wait for a table. friendly staff, quick service, reasonable prices. took several times a ride from main bazaar just for the dosas and utthapam.
Although slightly on the spicy side for the European taste this was nonetheless a very nice meal - we went for the Thali with option for pori & rice and were very pleased with what we got (see photo). I would go back here any time. We arrived soon after 7 and when we left at 8 they were queuing...

Had been to the saravana bhavan branch in central delhi.Food was good, and served piping hot. Taste of food was not as good as the one you get in tamil nadu, but ok to give it a try. Overall ambience was good and staff service was up to the mark.
This is a very good place to enjoy great south Indian dishes with variety of chutneys and sambar. The service is ok but quick

Earlier whenever I used to visit Chennai I used to visit Saravana Bhavan nowadays I also visit Saravana Bhavan when I'm at Delhi. Pongal, Set dosas and 14 idlies are my all time favourites at Saravana Bhavan.Excellent taste, excellent service reasonable price and being light on stomach make it a winner.
If you wanna taste authentic and mouthwatering south indian food and great variety at a reasonable cost than you cannot miss saravana bhavan. Tip: reach on time as the queues are really long during lunch and dinner peak hours.
I am surprised to see that one of the members has written that getting a chance to gain entry is still problematic at Saravana Bhavan, at peak hours. I too faced the same difficulty when I visited in Sept 2010. It is there still in May 2013. But as usual the food is good. Service is good. For the diet...
