The Casa del Rio hotel is on the river and has a good location within walking distance of the tourist attractions. The River Grill is a very good restaurant with a good selection of dishes and everything we had was tasty and well prepared except for the vegetable soup which I found a little weak and in need of more... The River Grill restaurant is part of a beautiful hotel (Casa del Rio) that sits astride the river in the old part of Melaka. There is seating inside and outside on a terrace overlooking the water. We were welcomed by the most friendly staff who were totally attentive but not always on your shoulder. The menu is very versatile. Pasta,... More

Do yourself a favour and have at least one meal here. Consistently the best restaurant service we receive in Malaysia for this style of restaurant. All the waiting staff deserve the applause but the best meal on the menu is the Spicy Morrocan Lamb - chef take a bow! 8 of our party of 10 order ed this and no... More

We had lunch here and were rather disappointed. Chicken rendang had a really nice sauce but the chicken itself was almost entirely bone - it needs to be better than this for 30 ringit, when you get a wonderfully large portion of tandoori chicken for 7 ringit at Pak Putra, 5 minutes' walk away. The grilled red snapper was also... More

Went for a birthday dinner and throughout March 2012, every friday, they add a buffet to the menu list. March is all you can eat Roast Lamb and unlimited salads. I'd drive from KL to Malacca just for this! plus, one of the few places that does Steak tartare and my husband loved it. Service was great, discreet but knowledgeable.... More

The service was very friendly, and sitting by the river is very nice. The food was unfortunatelly only average. It lacked the spices from the region, I felt like this is the type of asian food you get in Europe. The red snapper was very spicy, not very fresh and slightly dry. The price was expensive 30 RM. The stir... More

Went to The River Grill as nearby Harper's was closed that night. They are both next to Melaka River but at the moment, Harper's has the better views. There were ongoing construction works on the other side of the river from The River Grill, perhaps to create more outdoor commercial and dining outlets which would certainly enliven the view and... Our lunch in this restaurant undoubtedly counts as one of the best we had in our 3-country tour of southeast asia recently (being a bit of a foodie, that says quite a lot). We chanced upon it while looking for a decent place to have lunch along the river, after we changed our mind about having lunch in another place... More

After having a very average meal in our hotel we were looking for somewhere else to eat. We saw the Casa del Rio hotel whilst we took the cruise up the Melaka River. An excellent choice. The staff were professional and attentive, the food excellent - the best roast beef - and a good wine list. An excellent evening at... More
