The food at Pin Chuan is fine, but the price is not. For 200 RMB a head, you would expect a lot more. The service was good and the restaurant looks nice. The food is very much the standard Sichuanese (not in Sichuan) fare. You can get the same meal at another place for a fraction of the price.

If you crave spicy, it's hard to beat this restaurant. Service is outstanding, the price is affordable and the wine and beer list is fine. I particularly liked the Sichuan green beans, the gongbao hiding and the dumplings. I enjoyed the restaurant so much I went back a second time. I also enjoyed the people watching as many Chinese of... More

Went with a couple of friends not long ago. The restaurant is located on Taojiang rd, just next to the US consulate. It is a very convenient area for going out for drinks or other activities after dinner while still being on quite a quiet street. - The dining area is split up in several smaller areas, it is good... We visited as a table of 6 for lunch just after the lunar New Year and had an excellent meal. When we arrived the airconditioning was a little on the strong side, the staff immediately bent over backwards to bring the temperature up and get rid of the draft that was hitting our table. We were with Chinese friends and... More

Tried out the Taojiang eatery (previous was at Plaza 66). Ordered similar dishes as the previous visit at Plaza 66, but the food was basically disappointing here. Everything just tasted spicy, where previously there were nuances of taste present. Even the fried beans were too spicy, and we ended up ordering several pots of tea (at 68 rmb per pot)... More

I have been going to Pinchuan from time to time for a few years, generally not for my own dining but this is one of my go-to places when entertaining visitors - think white table cloths, good service, and a large selection of dishes to choose from. The prices tend to be a bit higher than other places, and the... More

A group of us went there for Friday dinner after work and it was an excellent experience. Even those who do not usually like spicy food enjoyed the meal. Highly recommended dishes include beef ribs with cumin sauce (they also have a deep fried version which is done at the table), steamed fresh fish, kongpao beef and chicken with cashews,... More

We went after hearing such great things about this restaurant. First impression of the Taojiang Road venue was favorable. We had a nice table by the window, nicely decorated, elegant but not over the top. Ordered a slew of dishes and a bottle of red wine which they informed me later they were out of stock so we opted for... More

Went here first with colleagues from work and the spouse and had a really enjoyable experience. If you dont like spicy food then dont bother showing up here. If you like having your tastebuds lit on fire then this place is for you. Lots of choices and good atmosphere. Have a local take you here to get the best experience.

I have been to both branches and both provide great food. My preference is for Plaza 66 as it is a bit more upmarket but the Taojiang Rd one, being in the French Concession, is quite atmospheric. If you are a Sichuan Chilli pepper lover make sure you try the fish in oil soup... a traditional Sichuan dish. Reasonably priced... More
