Just how excellent this food was was SUCH a surprise. Who would think, in Shanghai? The Argentine beef was incredible. The sauce on the skillet of beef and potatoes made it one if the best things I've ever eaten. I keep thinking about how to attempt to recreate it at home. Also loved the chocolate creme brûlée. They served it... More

Stick to quesadillas and tacos - they are the best! Best time to go is at night, such a great atmosphere! The restaurant has different small areas, creating intimate fun spaces to hang out with a group of friends.

After reading the reviews here, we ordered classic margaritas, an array of starters and finished with a lava cake for dessert. Top points for all of the food - nothing disappointed, it was delicious and carefully presented. Not 'authentic' mexican, which I wouldn't expect in Shanghai, but tasty and accented with all of the great mexican flavours, chipotle, cilantro, chiles,... More

We have now been here several times. Maya serves Mexican and Tex-Mex fare all of which is excellent. Those drinks associated with Mexican restaurants are plentiful and you can get Margaritas in all sorts of flavors. The fish recipes tend to be among the best and I always fall back on those. The atmosphere is quietly elegant and it is... More

In a smaller apartment complex, you'll find Maya on the second floor. It has a great atmosphere. The service was fantastic. I didn't notice any Chinese staff the night we went. We had the duck quesadilla, which blew us away. The mains we all ok, but the starters are where you should really stick too.

We are so thankful that our friends, introduced us to Maya. Maya is a Mexican restaurant with an Asian twist located in the Shanghai Grand Plaza Club House (residential compound). The menu is pretty robust, we ordered a handful of dishes to share amongst us tapas style. We never made it to the entrees :) Dishes included Guacamole (homemade, but... More

Great restaurant, relatively new on the Shanghai scene. Good service, excellent food. Especially enjoyed the quesadillas and the margharitas. Some dishes took a long time to arrive, but waiters were very apologetic. Positively surprised by level of English spoken by the staff. Menu is extensive and ingredients used were good. Definitely recommend and would return.

Some of the best mexican food we have had in Asia. Perhaps it was the cold Corona, or the chips and salsa, no actually it was the excellent service that make this excellent. Rob was a wonderful host and the team of waiters was very attentive to our tastes and wants. Having spent most of our life in the US,... More

Maya really stands out for restaurants in Shanghai. The food is excellent-creative dishes with wonderful presentation. What makes it special is the staff. They either are extremely selective or train very well, because we have never found better service anywhere in Shanghai regardless of price. Just finished Easter Brunch; our first one at Maya. The quality of the food was... More

Maya is well located in the hart of the french concession in the puxi side of Shanghai inside an apartment complex which makes it hard to find if you don't know your way. The place inside is nicely decorated and has an adequate size, small enough to feel in a special place and large enough to have many options in... More
