Visiting Cape town I was taken to this delightful cafe, the food looked fabulous and tasted just as good as it looked. We were having a party and ordered 3 quiches to take away...all I can say is wow , those are the best quiches ive ever tasted by a long stretch , highly recommended

The coffee was good, and the breakfasts seemed quite interesting. The yoghurt and fruit included a good selection of tripical fruits blended very well with the plain yoghurt

My partner and I are Cape Town locals (we live about 10 minutes walk from Birds) so we get the choice on where to eat in the city centre every day. A lot of places within that 10 minute radius have things which would potentially add to their charm, like views of the mountain, a garden, air conditioning, etc. (and... More

If you have a few minutes to spare or just feel like delicious cup of coffee, pop into birds cafe, it is very plain and your seating is made up of two crates stacked with a piece of foam on the top. The tables are mostly rustic wooden trestles Fresh and interesting ingredients are used to create mouth watering plates... More

Last minute booking made on a day that they had announced early closing for a function. So arrived expecting chaos. No way the staff had it all under control. The food and service were excellant so the 15 minuete wait was worth it. There is seating inside and on a front stoop so you people watch. The location is ideal... More

Went here twice on my trip. Both times the food was fantastic - large tasty salads with fresh ingredients, great coffee and the best pancakes I've ever eaten. Perfect lunch spot.

This place is an absolute charmer with great food and friendly staff. Plywood tables with upside-down crates & cushions for seats. The cafe decor also included swan-shaped salt & pepper basins, jars of pickled carrots, and buckets used as lamps. The water pitchers had bunches of mint lending a nice fresh flavor, and our tea came out in a beautiful... More

Birds has to be one of my favourite places in Cape Town. At first glance the entire venue seems to be built on subtle contradictions, but that's just where the addictive charm of Birds breed inside one's mind. I adore their approach to food: fresh, creatively presented and always in unexpected combinations. A great deal of attention goes into everything... More

There's not enough places in Cape Town making new and interesting food. Birds is brilliant. The restoration of the building is subtle and the aesthetic is great. The food is fantastic. They've clearly put a lot of time into thinking about what they want to create and have delivered the simple details really well.
