We had many wonderful meals in South Africa but this was without doubt our favourite. We had the steak tartare, the haloumi salad, the lamb and the home made sorbets. Every dish was delicious, I kept wishing we had more room to try more. The restaurant itself is bright and cheery and the service was fabulous. The waitress gave us... More

Franck left La Colombe some years ago and the Cape Town gourmet scene was sceptic about his new baby. He proved them all wrong. Foodbarn has established as a top Bistro style restaurant, easy going, fresh, non pretentious, young, old, chatting, laughing, kids, dogs, colorful. The always discussed over salting was getting less over the last season, maybe love cooled... More

Has to be one of the best in Cape Town, but nearly everyone complains of the over salting of your food. We can't all be wrong, give the customer what he wants. Personally for me I won't come back until you have solved that arrogant problem of yours, which is a great pity. You don't get my money and I... More

Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback; we really do appreciate it. Regarding there being too much salt in the food, this is the first we are hearing of this ... but I have notified my staff and we will look for any similar issues. Thanks again and we do look forward to seeing you again. Cheers, Pete More

This is a great dining experience with legendary chef, Franck Dangereux. The restaurant is situated in the Noordhoek Farm Village, a great laid back attraction in the area. The menu is fantastic and the food awesome... Definitely not a "budget-beater" but well worth the memorable experience! More

The Foodbarn is situated in a lovely renovated barn. The whole vibe is relaxed, slightly leaning towards fine dining but with a country house feel. The only stressful thing is choosing between the a la carte or bistro 3 course menu. Our party of 5 went for the bistro option. You have 5 choices for each course; starter, main and... More

We loved the food, we loved the atmosphere and the service was really fantastic and personal. The portions were not massive which was perfect because the food I chose was a bit creamy and rich. I adored The Food Barn for a lovely romantic dinner. Earlier in the day we popped into the deli and grabbed food for a picnic... More

This year we tried the Deli (on 2 occasions) - did not go back to the restaurant which I reviewed last year. No complaints, really good deli food and a very pleasant atmosphere - a couple of tables outside but it was far too hot to try eating there. We had an excellent lunchtime salad and muffins on both occasions.... More

The atmosphere and service in the restaurant was delightful and the food was excellent. We had the summer bistro menue, three courses for 220 Rand, which is a great deal, since the food is very good with a touch of French cuisine! Strongly recommended. More

We dined at the food barn as part of a birthday celebration. I had read Frank Dangereux's cookery book which is an excellent publication, turning beautiful restaurant food in to home achievable simplicity. The starters were superb as was the friendly service. The mains were very good and the desserts yummy. Two minor criticisms, the truffle oil on the beef... More

Yes yes yes. Well worth it (and I guess it doesn't normally happen) but well worth it to have the chance of tasting the wonderful sauces that Mr Dangereux does so well, in fact no one does them better. The food isn't bad either! This time I managed to order something other than the prawn tian that I remember from... More
