I took my wife and a couple of our friends here as I really needed some good Chinese. The ratings on Trip Advisor lead me to Del Mar Rendezvous and I am glad they did. The service was excellent as was the food. The waitor was attentive but did not hovver and made some good recomendations. We were told all... More

The food was fantastic, fresh and unique. The service was great, we had a 7 year old who was grouchy and hungry and they accomodated us perfectly. They had an extensive wine list, as well as a vegan and vegetarian menu. We also had some gluten free guests and they were very satisfied. Great service and atmosphere, overall good experience... I have eaten here 3 time now. Each time I'm delighted by the taste of the food and speedy service. It's a little on the pricy side, but this isn't for everyday outings, so its fine. My Wife loves and always gets the Fried Rice with chicken. Its a very large serving--easily 2-3 meals. I love the Cashew Chicken, the... More

This was our first visit and we came because of the ratings and were not disappointed. Although the restaurant itself is small, it had a clean tasteful decor that blended old world Asian with US modern. We shared the crispy duck wrap as an appetizer and enjoyed the mix of flavors. My husband ordered the shrimp and I had chicken... More

I agree with many other reviewers that this is a very overprice chinese restaurant, although it wants to be "asian fusion". It has very tight seating so you sit on top of other diners. Meal was expensive and the portions small - but they did taste good. The pungent crispy chicken was yummy. Highlight for us was the view into... More

After the reviews on tripadvisor and magazines, and being Chinese foodies, we were expecting better ambience than an average Chinese restaurant and better quality food. We were disappointed in both of these areas. Walnut prawns were priced at $19 for 8 prawns = over $2.00/prawn. Chinese Lo Mein for over $12.00 was so small in portion, it fed one person.... More

My husband and I decided to try Rendezvous for Restaurant Week, which turns out they did the whole month of January instead of just the two designated weeks. The parking structure is located right behind the restaurant and they validate parking, so that is nice. They have some outdoor tables that are probably really nice to sit at when the... More

We love Chinese food, eat out a lot, and were wowed by this restaurant. After reading Ron J's review I don't have to add more details. I fully agree: if you are in the Del Mar area and love good food, this is a must.

My wife and I went to Restaurant Week (January 13-18) after pouring over the ever-growing list of 180-plus restaurants participating in this year's winter event. We were looking for not only deals, but menus that showcased interesting and taste-tempting dishes. When I'm asked for my opinion of must-visit dining spots, I'm suggesting an Asian gem located in the heart of... More

Perhaps, the food may be considered great if I never had really good chinese before. The taste was extremely bland like the chef did not want to use too many rich and spicy flavors that make Chinese food really good. Our meals consisted of steam pork dumplings which were very dense and lacked flavor. Our main meal was equally as... More
