I have my doubts about hotel restaurants, but Nine Ten overcame them. We had the vegan appetizer and entree - possibly the best vegan food I have ever had. Service was excellent and teh room elegant - what more does one want - oh yes, it has valet parking.

Dear NJAL: So glad to hear you tried and enjoyed the vegan options at NINE-TEN and that you felt it was "the best vegan ever"! Really appreciate that! And about that valet parking, let me add that it’s the best deal in La Jolla – only $5 with NINE-TEN validation. And finally, in response to your comment about hotel restaurants…ironically,... More

We celebrated our anniversary here and sat out on the beautiful terrace overlooking the ocean. Our server was so personable and professional. She presented us with a card from the hotel/restaurant staff and delivered two complimentary glasses of champagne. We enjoyed a delicious fresh asparagus soup as an appetizer, I had the salmon entree and my husband had the scallops.... More

We should have reserved a table, but managed to squeeze in at the bar. It was very busy indeed and the staff did their best to keep up. We had some great appetizers and drinks. The atmosphere was very jovial. Would book a table next time!

Dear Ednacloud: Thanks for your kind note about the service you received while visiting NINE-TEN. The restaurant can get pretty busy so let me know personally next time you visit so I can reserve a table for you in advance. I am glad, however, that you were able to get a seat at the bar. This restaurant is located in the Grand Colonial hotel, and has an impressive cocktail list with garden-to-glass tendencies. The food is incredible; I had the hibachi sashimi, and it was the best I've ever had. The beef brisket was fork-tender and toothsome, and desserts showed a similar touch of genius. Service was courteous and knowledgeable.

We had breakfast and the French Toast was superb! It was served with very little syrup but it wasn't needed. My husband really enjoyed his omelet also.

We were staying at the hotel that this restaurant is located in, Grande Colonial, and decided to grab breakfast here since we thought it would be a good, quick option. It was anything but that. We were greeted and told to sit wherever we wanted when we walked in, but after waiting over 5 mins for menus and water we... More

The food and the presentation was outstanding! We had heard of the executive chef and he didn't disappoint. In addition to the usual menu, you can choose a 3 or a 5 course option from the existing menu choices, It was certainly the best value!

I'd been planning a 3-day weekend in La Jolla for some time. But as time approached, I'd completely forgotten to reserve a table at Nine-Ten for dinner. This new restaurant in the Grande Colonial hotel is a real hit with us.
