Description: For 16 years, this family-run Argentine restaurant on the west side of Melrose Ave has been quietly filling up with meat and wine lovers, celebrities and Argentine ex-pats. The ambiance is a tip of the hat to 1930s-era Buenos Aires, with masculine dark wood chairs, dim light and pink walls, and at night, there are often live bands so tango and flamenco fills the room. Family matriarch Azniv Bozoghlian is the executive chef, and her two sons Max and Gerard are always on the premises to serve, host and guide patrons through an authentic Argentine dining experience. Price (Price reflects the average cost of dinner, including one drink and tip): $31 to $50

Some restaurants you go to once, enjoy it and then forget about it. Not Carlitos Gardel on Melrose Ave. near Fairfax in Los Angeles! This is my second review of Gardel's because it has become a destination restaurant for us. We do not live in LA, but we travel there regularly and we make it our business to enjoy dinner... More

In a nondescript area of the famed Melrose Avenue tucked between a lingerie shop called Agent Provacateur and a clothing boutique called Lotta, is Carlitos Gardel restaurant. From its location and simple black awning, one might anticipate an interesting throwback night club upon entering. What you'll find instead is chicly designed Argentinean Steakhouse appealing to plenty of 'eye candy' and... More

Very nice atmosphere and servers. Everybody was helpful and knowledgeable. Portabella $12 - Grilled Portabella Mushroom, layered with melted provolone cheese, sautéed spinach and feta cheese - very good, of course, because it's smothered in melted cheese! Pasta Di Mare $22 - Fettuccine tossed with mussels, shrimps and mushrooms, in your choice of tomato or cream sauce - HORRIBLE! Completely... More

Make sure you get a reservation at this great stake place. It's one of the classier restaurants in the area and they feature mouth watering steaks cooked to perfection. These guys are the real thing. They have been at this for decades and the experience shows in the paring of their menu items along with their very extensive wine choices.... More

Girard greeted us at the door with a friendly smile and led us to our seat. This place is great for steaks. The steaks are flown in from Argentina. The skirt steak is very flavorful. The desserts are homemade daily by Girard's mother. I would highly recommend this place. It is a great place for a wonderful and romantic evening.... More

Located in a strip of shops in West Hollywood, Carlitos Gardel is my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles. Whenever I fly through L.A., I make it a point to get together with local friends there. The food is spectacular the the wine choices are excellent. It is a little dark and moody inside, which I love. The service is top... More

Two of us for lunch -- seriously the best lunch I have had for many, many moths. The food was outstanding and the wine, even some of the cheaper glasses complemented it well. Service could not be faulted. Altogether a very memorable lunch, and the food and service made it special! Really, I cannot rate it too highly.
