You would not expect this out here, but this is a high class restaurant with upclass service. Variety of fish and meat, great selection of wines.
We have eaten at La Foret many many times, it is consistently very, very good. The restaurant in a old home over 100 years, old at the end of the Almaden Valley overlooking a lovely little creek. We enjoy the quail, Kobe, and lamb. Often have the seared sea scallops. And finish with a terrific soufflé which is wonderful! Relaxing,... More
I have eaten at LaForet for more than 20 years, it never changes. The food, service is consistent! I love the lamb, Kobe, the are always wonderful! The soufflé is one of the specialities, ask for fresh berries and chocolate as it makes it even much better! I can not recommend this restaurant high enough. It truly is the only... More
I was a little hesitant to try La Foret given the location and the menu seemed a little dated. It is in a rather out of the way place but not too far off the beaten path. I must admit we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. The tasting menu was diverse and portion sizes were large... More
Because of the expense, we only go to La Foret on special occasions but it never disappoints. The food and service are always wonderful.

There are historic bldgs, a museum, and mine shafts and trails to explore. The address does not tell you to take Almaden Expressway until you reach New Almaden... More
I have been going to this restaurant for over 30 years and have always enjoyed my visits there. The food is great and the setting is charming. However during my last visit a very fine dinner was made unpleasant by the owner and wait staff. I had brought my own wine and was told a corkage price by the person... More
My third visit there. I should say we have been very lucky with the service and waiting staff. Very nice and friendly staff. Quality and the taste depends on the dish you order. I believe appetizers are better than the entrees. I am not a dessert eater but everyone else said they were very good. I can not say the... More
La Foret has been around for many years. They are the 'go to' place for romance and great food. Located way out in New Almaden, they have a creekside setting with beautiful views from every window. La Foret is only open for lunch during the month of December, so my friends and I try to make it there each year... More
