First... The address in tripadvisor is wrong. Place is at 100 rose lane near the best western. Second. They close at nine some nights. We were used to places being open later but luckily went at 8pm But. Good food, nice casual small town place. Really attentive and focused servers. Good prices i think compared to bigger cities. Steak ,... More

I have eaten here twice now - same great service - delicious burger and reasonably priced beers. Some day I will try a steak - they looked wonderful. In addition, food I watched being delivered looked fresh as well. Its my current top pick for Montrose, Colorado. Plus it's a short walk from the hotel.

My husband and I discovered Ted Nelson's last April, shortly after it opened. Unfortunately, we were not able to do it justice! We had spent a long day on the road and were just looking for a place to eat some supper. But even my chicken sandwich and my husband's fish and chips made us realize this was someplace special.... Our group of five, including a friend from Denver, had dinner at Ted Nelson's Steakhouse in Montrose, Colo. last night and were very happy with the food and service. The special bourbon-and-brown-sugar marinated New York steak was a winner. We also really liked the Tuscan chicken breast and Ted's marinated sirloin, all delicious. Ted specializes in steaks and seafood, including... More

Ted's is one of the few restaurants where you can get fresh caught fish, and it is usually good. However, steaks ordered medium well inevitably come out overcooked. The salsa is actually Pace salsa, i.e., out of a jar. While trying to enjoy a relaxed dinner, we had four different people come to our table trying to take our plates... More

We went to Ted Nelson's Steakhouse Dec. 22, 2012 with two other couples for a pre-Christmas dinner. Two of us had the wild-caught Gulf shrimp, which was delicious. The others had prime rib, Ted's marinated sirloin, the prime rib sandwich, and the salmon filet. Everyone was really happy with the food and service. Ted's is the best, most-consistent restaurant in... More

I don't know if it was the food which was not good (thin dry sandwiches) or the creepy old guy that was staring at us with something hanging out of his mouth the whole time (yuck!) but this one is a must miss.

We were disappointed in our visit. The menu is very limited so beware if you have diverse eaters. The salad and bread were okay (once they arrived) but things went downhill from there. The prime rib was not good at all and others in our group were not impressed with the steak or fish either. After taking a long time,... More

Ted's has a friendly atmosphere - always a prompt greeting when you come in the door, service that's eager to accommodate, and a visit from the owner (does he ever go home?). Steaks are always excellent; some variability on the other offerings, but typically good to very good. Decent wines. In a small town where businesses close up early, Ted's... More

We love Ted Nelson, and his new roomy accommodations are such an improvement. The ambiance is not romantic, but does have a very homey touch. The tables are not on top of each other so that you are listening to your neighbors' conversation. I would suggest the salmon. Many restaurants turn salmon into compost, but not Ted's. Every time we... More
