Description: Our tables overlook the waters of the Connecticut River where the fresh river meets the salt of the sound. It’s a treasured and historic spot. In nature the most vibrant life happens where systems meet. These places are rich in life, and our restaurant reflects that lively diversity. We have a raw bar, a seasonally varied menu, and offer as much as we can from the farms, brewers, cheese makes and other food enterprises that are springing up around our region. Fresh Salt delivers a dining experience that’s comfortable and relaxed. Our staff is here to be of service to you, our kitchen stands ready with fresh ingredients, a deep wine cellar and carefully crafted fusions of foods and beverages that bring tastes together in delicious and new ways. We have tables by the fire, at the bar, and in season offer seating outdoors on the Fresh Salt Terrace.

This is going to be a bi-polar review. The quality of the brunch items were very good. The selection was somewhat below average, no omelettes, pancakes or French toast. The atmosphere was good, but the seating was crowded and uncomfortable. Price for the brunch is slightly high, but average for the area. The views may be good, but only if... More

I am wondering if you did not walk through the entire selection of food because your review says we don't offer omelettes and we do have a fresh made to order omelette station every sunday also we have... I have been to this brunch 7 or 8 times over the last year and I was extremely disappointed when I went last weekend and learned that it had changed. Previously this was hands down the best Sunday brunch in Southeastern CT. It used to include Oysters, Fresh Clams, Shrimp cocktail, eggs benedict, and over a dozen hot dishes. Now... More

I am very sorry to hear that you were not pleased with our new brunch. It is true that the raw bar is no longer included in the price but it is still available at brunch time. We do however still offer the same amount of dishes that we offered before. In surveying our customers we foudn that the majority... More

This is a wonderful restaurant in the upscale Saybrook Inn. The food is exceptional and the service is first class. The place was very busy but we were served without delay and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs.

We have tried to venture out away from this awesome place but so far no other restaurant in this area can top the food, atmosphere, service and views! Dave at the bar is wonderful and all personnel are friendly, efficient and top-notch! They have a wonderful Sunday brunch for a very good price! Definitely put this on your list to... More

food is good but we like it quieter. The prixe fixe specials and $5.00 a glass wine bring out quite a crowd so much so that we were overcharged on our wine.

The bar in Fresh Salt is vibrant - filled with happy people - the drinks are top notch and the appetizers are tasty. Looking forward to the summer when the patio opens - live music and great water views (including a lighthouse). Great opportunity to go for a walk over the causeway before or after imbibing.

We had a friend visiting from Chicago, so wanted to take her down somewhere by the water. Found Fresh Salt, saw positive reviews, and that they have Sunday brunch, made reservations and headed down. Oh my! Our compliments to the chef (or chefs?), because every little thing at that brunch was delicious. To start, the hostess was great and super... More

As a sushi connoisseur, I have a great appreciation for American interpretations sushi in general. So, when I ordered the tuna sushi sandwich at Fresh Salt in the Old Saybrook Point Inn, I was delighted beyond my expectations. First off, the tuna was had a rainbow hue as all great tuna should. We stayed at the Saybrook Point Inn off season and had dinner at Fresh Salt. The menu listed Block Island Swordfish Chops. I asked the waitress to explain. The cut is the check of a swordfish and is stuffed with minced calamata olives and capers. The result was absolutely unexpected and delicious! Very tender and succulent. It was served with... More
