My wife and I were in Indianapolis for the Big Ten Rowing Championships and on our walking exploration of the city we came across some information about Shapiro's. We live in Albany New York now we are originally from New York City so we know Deli food quite well. When we first walked in and toward the buffet line we... More

Giant, wonderful corned beef and pastrami sandwiches. Excellent potato latkes. Great desserts. Just like stepping back into time at this Indianapolis original.

There are some places in Indy you just have to go to for tradition's sake, and one is Shapiro's. Esp. for the mac&cheese and brisket on a soft roll. No one does it like them. My only negative is the new location in Carmel. Too bad the owners made that decision!

I've heard of this place for years but this was my first visit. Food was good and plentiful. I see other reviewers talking of high prices so maybe other meals are out of line but I sure didn't think breakfast was.

Awesome! The quality of the food was great, the service was outstanding! I tried the Reuben, and I was glad I did. My friends order some of the sides and raved about the stuffed cabbage and also the potato salad. The desserts looked great but I was so stuffed there was no where to put it. It gets really crowded... More

Used to be sooo much better. They've gone corporate greed and you can tell. The staff is hateful, floors were dirty and the food was just so-so and way too expensive nowadays for the lower quality they give

Had the best Reuben Sandwich of my life and I've eaten a lot of them...it's one of my favorites which I'll never eat at another restaurant!! Other food looked good...probably is, but the Reuben can't be beat.

Shapiro's was recommended to us by an associate that lives in the area. Man were we glad! He was dead on about the piled high corned beef. One of the guys tried the brisket and loved it but also wanted the stuffed cabbage. So may choices? Typical deli, get in line and know your order. No worries, just get behind... More

I was not a big fan of the cafeteria section but the delicatessen was the most mouth watering place I've ever seen! Every single item had me drooling and wanting more... I ended up getting the 1/2 Pastrami sandwich which was as big as my hand and loaded with meat! It was a meal! I thought the prices were a... More
