The gift shop was very nice, lots of fresh baked breads, fudge, and other deserts. The restaurant service was very good, the food average, but good for the price.

I have eaten at Blue Gate a number of times. The service and food are always great. The baked goods are so good, and all homemade

I am from Lancaster County, PA, so I've eaten at many restraunts that serve Amish cooking, however, I must say that this restraunt is good or better than any you will get! Must do or try: Try the Amish Peanut Butter Spread that is served before your meal with the bread. Yum! So many pies, try them each and you'll... More

The beef & noodles are really good and lots of baked goods are available. There were also nice items in the gift shop. The staff was very friendly and the bathrooms were clean.

I use to eat here a lot over the many years of coming to this area. I ate here when it was just a little small building and as a bigger one as it is now. However this time I see it is all about money and not the people or the people they repersent localy. (Amish). I ordered the... More

We were staying at the Essenhaus Inn for a conference. After eating breakfast & lunch at the Essenhaus restaurant, and being quite disappointed, we decided to try the Blue Gate for dinner and we were so glad we did. We arrived on Friday night around 5:30 and there was already a waiting list for seating. We browsed in the bakery... More

We had typical Amish home cooked meals. My husband had the pot roast and I ordered the chicken and noodles. His pot roast was so tender and so filling, that we brought home leftovers for the next day! Great value.

This is a great family restaurant with a very unique setting in Shipshewana, Indiana. Shipshewana is home to one of the largest groups of Amish people in the Unites States. The horse-drawn buggies are everywhere in evidence in the town. We were sitting in the restaurant with 15 or so amish people just across from us. The food was excellent... More
