Description: Steve and Michelle Corry, the proprietors of Five Fifty-Five, arrived in Portland armed with a passionate vision and extensive experience in the restaurant industry. Steve began his culinary career as a brew master at several breweries in Northern California. In 1999, he attended the New England Culinary Institute in Burlington Vermont. After graduating in 2001, he returned to California to work at Domaine Chandon in Napa Valley. A graduate of Boston University with a Bachelor's Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration, Michelle Corry has worked at numerous prestigious establishments, including the French Laundry in Napa. Together, they have envisioned a dining experience that would combine a comfortable atmosphere, professional service, and fresh, simple, and delicious food sourced locally. Steve and Michelle Corry would like to welcome you to their first collaborative, Five Fifty-Five.

It's not often that you can sit at a bar in a restaurant and still be blown away by the service. As a service professional, I know the difference between good and very good service. Very good applies here. They escort you instead of pointing. When I came back from the restroom, my napkin was folded (at the bar!). Many... More

Everything we ordered here was delicious, we got the mussels appetizer, lobster mac, and the hanger steak, as well as the pistachio dessert. The mussels were perfectly cooked and lovely flavor, the lobster mac was very creamy and one of the better lobster macs I've had, and the hanger steak was tender and flavorful, with the added bone marrow bread... The restaurant is situated in the main part of town. We were seated right next to the large windows with a view of the street. Being in Maine, I wanted to at least sample seafood, so I had the redfish. The flavors were good, and the fish was cooked very well. I then tried the steak for my main course... More

Walking distance from Portland Stage on Forest Avenue. Excellent food, good tables for groups of six downstairs, or quiet tables for two upstairs.

A newcomer to Portland Me, I thought I was being taken to a bar but my host knew better: two extensive and interesting tasting menus with an option of well-judged wines to match each dish. It's not cheap but eating of this quality is never going to be. The parsnip soup, the veal, and the casco bay lobster stand out... More

My husband and I went to dinner there for my birthday and could not have been happier with the food, service and attention. As soon as we sat down the waiter Paul wished me a happy birthday and I had a personalized menu presented to me. The mussels recommended where perfect and the best we ever had. The hangar steak... The tasting menu is delicious and scrumptious! From the mussels, steak, cheese plate to desert, everything gets a gold star. Great unpretentious service. In my opinion, Portland's number one restaurant!

This understated upscale place has a wonderful setting, exceptional food and great service. The taster menu is a wonderful treat, however, enough for two people. Second floor seating overlooks the kitchen. You can watch how meticulous the chefs are. The restaurant is quiet. A great place for a special evening or just a relaxing time. There is a lighter separate... More

This restaurant receives high reviews but was very average. The atmosphere is average and very tight. Dinning upstairs area inconvenient and staff kept hitting back of chairs. Drinking bottled sparkling water but waiter twice poured tap water into our glasses. Mac and Cheese with lobster well couldn't find lobster, Foie gras terrine served with stale donut? Pepper crusted scallops would... More

On behalf of the entire staff at five fifty-five, I would like to apologize for your recent experience. Our goal is that every customer leaves thrilled with their food and service, and obviously that was not the case in this instance. We find a majority of people love the upstairs, therefore we do consider it some of our best seating,... More

I have been to 555 three times, and I won't return. I had a steak which they couldn't get right after two tries. They refused to do anything else about it. The next time, two of us were seated next to a large party. The server all but ignored us. The last time, we went there for brunch. We were... More
