Locally known and appreciated, but visitors can easily miss this great resistant. It is tucked away in a restored gran mill and not to far off easy access roads. Broad based food selections, with the option of small plate specials. Prices are fair, service is generally very good. Bar is active and everyone seems very pleasant. Atmosphere is simple and... If you are anticipating a "tavern", you will be surprised. Very broad, yet simple menu from fish to veal to hamburgers (available at bar only). Reasonably priced for upper tier food. No happy hour; burgers $10. Thursday nite is "special burger nite" for the entire restaurant; not lower priced, but specially prepared toppings.

The food did not knock my socks off, but it was still very good. It seemed like the best spot for dinner in Chestertown.

We recently dined here. The interior is very interesting - situated in an old grain mill. The food was decent, and unexpectedly good. Service was friendly and efficient. I'd go back.

We went here two nights in a row while staying at the Brampton Bed & Breakfast Inn just a little over a mile down the road. Don't let the name "Tavern" throw you off. Yes, there is a bar and a few bar tables near it, but this is basically an upscale restaurant in a coverted grainary. We have been... More

This is my favorite place to eat in Chestertown. The food is always really good, the service is great, and atmosphere is welcoming. The space itself -- a beautifully refurbished and converted granary or some such -- oozes character. The kitchen could stand to mix up their offerings a bit more than they do, but you can always count on... More

Perfect example of a small town establishment trying to be something they are not. Dinners are overpriced for the quality of the food presented, and the waitstaff, while trying very hard also fall somewhat short of expectations.

Last minute table for 8 was cheerfully set. Most of us got the special burger, all were satisfied. The two fish dinners were also enjoyed. Good service and cheerful surroundings.

We went here one Saturday night in December, and arrived early because the reviews I read stated the waits are long if you arrive during the supper rush. There's nothing I love more than taking an old building and preserving it for future generations, and the Tavern is located in an old Flour Mill, which has been overhauled while keeping... More

Expected more, waitress had no personality and menu was goose, duck, scallops. No tablecloths. 4 couples moced while we were there. Great bread served to you by the bread girl, one piece at a time. Bland entree scallops over pasta and lamb in a phyllo wrap.
