My wife and I stopped here after dinner and we immediately went over to the pastries and chocolates. I decided on a single scoop of Moose Trax in a waffle cone and it was $4.19....holy crap! I should have looked at the menu $3.95 single and $4.95 double. Get the pastries, not the ice cream!

Beautiful pastries, tarts, cakes and cookies elegantly displayed. Have dinner in Royal Oak, skip dessert and walk to Astoria to choose something extra-special to take home. Yummy!

I've been here a few times. It's been average at best. The last time I went the chocolate chip cookies and baklava were very bad. It's unfortunate. The place is beautiful and the food looks wonderful. I just wish it tasted as good as it looked. Don't get taken by the flashy looks.

I have a home-based bakery, so I'm constantly checking out professional bakeries for ideas for flavors and presentation. Astoria bakery is hitting all the right notes! Everything we tried (and we got a little bit of everything) was delicious, light, just the right texture, and mouth feel. The service was quick and what we wanted boxed was done separately from... Mostly sweets and ice cream, no real bread or rolls, etc. But, want cheese cake, brownies, baklava, cookies? This is YOUR place!

Lately we’ve been indulging in weekend walks through downtown Royal Oak and stopping in a variety of places for cups of hot tea. Today we tried Astoria Bakery where there are a few tables near the front window—great for watching the Royal Oak street parade—and a few more tables in the rear. Astoria’s glass cases are loaded with cupcakes, baklava... More

When I walked in my eyes lit up and my expectations went through the roof that I found a really good pastry shop in Michigan. It was not to be. I have to admit the looks of the goodies fooled me All the Italian look alike pastry that I tried left me longing for little Italy in NYC. However all... More

Everything I've tried, and I've tried many items... they are all very good. If you would like to bring home something impressive, and tasty, this is the place to find it.

We stopped in on a whim while in Royal Oak. They had so many treats and they all looked amazing. My husband tried a cannoli and a macaroon, both of which he thought were delicious, and our child loved his mint chip ice cream, but that's where the love affair ended. The tiramisu was made of cake instead of ladyfingers,... More

Just step into Astoria and you will find a little or a lot of something for your begging sweet tooth.. As an annual birthday treat, I like to take home an individual tiramisu case, perfectly moist with balanced sweetness and coffee. During a day shopping this is the perfect place to pick up a macaroon, or coffee accompaniment. Five stars... More
