We enjoyed our recent meal at the Tavern. It's historical significance steals the show. Our food was good. Not fancy. But a great place to gather with friends on a trip to Minnesota.

The service was great, and the decor very unique. Housed in the basement of an inn, in what used to be the hotel kitchens, the low ceilings and exposed brick lend a cozy feel. The large menu included sandwiches, italian, and mexican food. The garden burger was average, but the house potatoes stole the show. This is a nice place...

If you can find it you have to eat here. Great for adults and children. Eat outside for the true experience. Feels like you're in Savannah.
The place was packed. It's obviously a hit with the locals. The old look is really neat. The atmosphere felt like a place we've been at in Europe. It was rather loud. Service was very good. All the flavors in everything just wasn't what we're fond of. I'm guessing every chef has their spin on what spices and sauces they...

Make sure you head into The Tavern for Tavie B, as Carleton students fondly call breakfast at The Tavern! It's one heck of a deal and lets you experience some of that Northfiled hospitality first thing in the morning.

We ate here in the morning after we left the Archer House. Everything cooked to order. My son loved the waffle with strawberries and whipped cream. I chose the eggs, toast, bacon, and potatoes special for $4.00 and still had so much food. I gave some to him and still left some potatoes on the plate. Great, Friendly Service! Dinner...

Nice lower level setting. Very comfortable, great staff, very good food (portions a little on the small side in our dishes -- may not be representative of all), great service, and half-price bottles of wine the night we were there.
Good breakfast choices, cozy atmosphere, and a daily special. It's a good place for a cozy breakfast on a cold day, and there are plenty of those.
We were pleasantly surprised to find The Tavern when we visited Northfield on November 30. We were staying at a B&B in Cannon Falls and picked up an Entertainment magazine that showcased Northfield and the surrounding towns. It is tucked down below the street level from one of the Inns. It is quaint with its smaller rooms for dining and...
