Proffitts' Porch is difficult to find--located on a back road in the middle of a swamp between Columbus and the Air Force base--but it is worth the trouble. In the summer, you will eating on the porch and watching the hummingbirds. The Po Boys are good, but our favorite sandwich is the cold seafood pita.

Great atmosphere right on the river. Friendly staff. Lots of people enjoying themselves. Great food with a local flavor including killer red beans and rice and gumbo.

I have been several times for both lunch and dinner. Cool, fun atmosphere. Don't expect much from the food, but they do make some decent sandwiches. Kids love it. Sit outside if the weather allows.

The Porch overlooks Officers Lake and many times you will see couples strolling on the sandy beach or a group of children playing while the family finishes their meal. My favorite is the 'Seafood on French', but I hear great things about the 'Cam' and their kumbac sauce is 'to die for'. The chocolate chip pie is the absolute best.
