food was great and of course the outside dining was wonderful our friends really enjoyed themselves and want to return again in the fall
This restaurant has a very pleasant atmosphere as well as very good food and service. You also can get a very good drink there as well.
The location, food, service, and price are pretty run of the mill. OK for boaters on the lake but would not go out of my way to eat here.
Two attempts to enjoy Jefferson Diner at sunset on the lake were thwarted by cold and rain, so we opted for the Windlass. Had the baked flounder which was priced reasonable but the fish must have died of hunger as it was such a small piece. Had glass of cabernet which was pleasant. The number one feature of this restaurant is its views of the lake. It sits right down the channel from the sunset. Boats are passing by. Visually very interesting-hard to duplicate. Also on a positive note-the property is one of the historic locations on the lake. Numerous postcards dating back almost 100 years are showcased on the walls. Whether you're... More
The Windlass has great food at a reasonble price. The dining room overlooks Lake Hopatcong (New Jersey's largest lake) You can eat here all year long but it is especially nice during the warmer months when you can eat outside. The food is very good Italian fare and is served with style.
Aside from the perfect view of Lake Hopatcong, the good is good. I strongly recommend the scallop dish or the Linguini and clam sauce. The walls are full of history of the lake with postcards of the area back to the 1800's.
Food was good, service was good, view was awesome. Had apps, salads & seafood. Crab cake was full of crab & not breading. A do over.
Wonderful place for breakfast. Breakfast potatoes are the best. Watch the sailboat races while you wait for your breakfast. Service is a little slow but the view will take your mind off of it.
The view is great, and the food was really delicious. YOu can bring the boat or drive a car in like a landlubber and enjoy a great dinner.
