My wife and I were on a weekend trip from Albuquerque to Chimayo, N.M. and staying at the Casa Escondida B&B. The menus they had of the area restaurants included El Meze in Taos. A 50-mile trip from Chimayo, but more than worth it. The lemon mousse/raspberry Napoleon caught my eye and we were on the way. An Alhambra lager,... More

There were so many delicious choices i could hardly decide what i wanted. We had 3 different dished, 3 different appetizers, 2 different salads, and 3 different desserts between 4 people. Everything was amazing. Better make a reservation because this place is busy! More

Superb taste, extremely friendly service and a warm and cozy atmosphere. A good break from the traditional New Mexico menu.We felt right at home, as if they had known us forever. For starters we had the Chicharrones and the Sweetbread. Being from Puerto Rico, we thought nothing could beat our chicharones....what a surprise! The Cocido, although an entree, we split... More

We first ate at El Meze soon after they opened last year. We went again last night. The creativity of the menu is wonderful without being silly. We had the grilled romaine (again - just as good as the first time); the chicharonnes were exceptional, although very rich - best to share. Service is terrific. They serve still and carbonated... We felt like we were back in Spain. The pace is unhurried but attentive and each dish we tried (grilled peppers, buffalo short ribs, fisherman's soup and grilled trout) was seasoned and prepared with care. The hard surfaces of the restaurant result in a harsh, high noise level --but a glass or two of wine tempers that one distraction. More

Go try a new addition to the menu. I loved this dish. It is a Catalan fisherman's stew with fish, sausage, potato and tomatoes in a light saffron broth. I thought I was in Spain. I hope it stays on the menu for awhile. More

Two couples so we got to try a variety of menu items, bar none they were excellent! Service was good, our waiter was engaging and dessert was to die for. for the entire meal the bill was very reasonable. This should be rated no 1 not two! More

El Meze is an excellent restaurant - fabulous food at a reasonable price, lovely setting, outstanding service and the owners/chef came out and met guests. If you are near Taos and want inspired, flavoursome food this is a great place. More
