Went there last Sunday with another couple and we all got the Sunday $10 steak special, which was outstanding. I understand that it will be gone at the end of May , but may be replaced with an outstanding dish that won them the "best local dish " at The Taste of Black Mountain several weeks ago ( and it... My wife and I went to the Ale House for supper last Sunday. We were probably the oldest couple there. I had the Sunday steak special for $10.00 and it was outstanding . My wife had the fish and chips which was ok , but it had too much batter .we both agreed that we would be back for the... More

...and I don't mean in a good "Pale Ale" sort of way. My husband and I tried The Ale House several months ago, and found it rather lackluster. For a restaurant who claims their wings are top of the line, I have to say they were unremarkable. We ran into an old friend last week who was raving about The... More

We were looking for a later evening dinner, when nothing else was open (except for the pizza restaurants we went to last night) we stopped in. Expecting bare food we were surprised at the delicious salads, French onion soup, two of us had amazing fresh burgers. The menu was great! Don' t let the name fool ya!

While traveling around the region, we happened across this little bar. The entrance we used was only a small door with the name on it, and then down steps to enter. It is a very friendly local establishment with a nice assortment of beers on tap. The food definitely a step above bar food, as mentioned in a previous review.... More

Stopped in on a Friday night for a couple of beers before dinner. They had some good, different beers on tap, & the bartender (who I found out later is the owner) was friendly and gave us a sample swig of one beer & recommended another beer I hadnt tried, but really enjoyed. The place filled up pretty quickly, yes,... More

We are planning on moving to Black Mountain in the near future and in the meantime, we are visiting nearly every weekend at this point with the goal of trying each restaurant. The Ale House is the next in a series of several we have tried in Black Mountain. This is an incredibly friendly place that I am sure we... More

Just spent the afternoon at this bar/restaurant with a few other husbands while our wives shopped. A good selection of beer on tap and the nice atmosphere. I had the Black and Blue berger with sweat potato fries...awesome. Would recommend it to all.

Good food, good service, friendly atmosphere, and lots of sports on. The menu has finger foods, great burgers, and meals like salmon. If you come on the weekends there is great music too!

We dropped in after driving up from Chimney Rock, just picked a spot and went inside. What a great little place! The menu offers unusual bar food that is from the area, like Smoked Trout Dip with pita crackers. The dip is made from trout raised in the community and was delicious. Want a variation on Chicken Wings? Try the... More
