It's is conveniently located, next to Turtle Bay Cafe, and across from the dive shop and Akumal Bay. Known for the fish and margaritas!
La Cueva del Pescador sits in a very special place in the Mayan Riviera, so location is really fantastic. Dishes are fairly simple and with no false pretenses. The ceviche was very fresh and the fish was also pretty good. Their prices are reasonable considering you are in a very expensive area, and even if they could serve larger portions,...

We loved the setting and the wait staff when we could catch their eye. It really seemed like they weren't interested in our business. The person who originally took our drink order then went over, sat down at a table, and ate his dinner. After a good 20 minutes we snagged a different person to place our food order.

Good food for reasonable price. My family of four ate lunch with soda for just under $40USD. Good guacamole, fish tacos, even club sandwiches. Recommended!
We have visited "La Cueva del Pescador" many times as I own a vacation villa nearby, and they never fail to please!! The name literally means "Cave of the fisherman" and you won't find fresher fish, lobster, or shrimp around! The presentation is homestyle (so don't expect any fancy plating!) and the dress is definitely beach casual - the tables...

so ridiculously good with a marg. It was a mixture of grouper, lobster, shrimp (my favorite) and octopus. yum
If you like fresh fish with no fancy-dancy presentation or prices, this is the place to go. Their homemade Sangria takes the edge off -- their waiters will make you laugh -- and you can tuck into some excellent fish. We come to Akumal a couple of times each year and never miss a chance to stop by for a...

Went there with family, kids who won't eat seafood. They custom-made them a meal of garlic spaghetti and chicken nuggets, which the kids loved! For the adults, very nice grilled shrimps and octopus. Fresh and tasty. They only take cash, which I didn't know, but were nice enough to let me pay the next day!
The seafood medley (600 pesos for two) was extraordinary. 4 small lobsters, a big filet of grouper, lots of calamari rings, and 6 big shrimp. Just that, simple fresh here it is seafood. BTW, they only take cash (pesos or dollars)
