I truly enjoyed this restaurant, the food, the service, the ambiance. The onion soup was simply terrific. Who was the chef and where has he gone?
We visited Alex's before a theatre production, and it started out as a great evening. The soups were wonderful. When my entree arrived, I ordered the seafood pasta, after a few bites realized that there was something off about the shrimp. The waitress noticed I wasn't eating, and asked if she could box the remainder of my food, and when... More
I have been planning to go to this restaurant in the Playhouse Square area and was shocked to read online today that they have closed! Seems they did not have a written lease (!) and the landlord wanted the space for someone else. Hope the next place is a restaurant and am sorry to hear this one is gone.
We've been to Alex's three times and have been happy each time. Decent menu and wine list. This place is so convenient when going to the theatre. Less pricey than Cowell and Hubbard. Reasonable service.
Arrived for early dinner before a show. They could not find our reservation, they were able to pull together some tables quickly. Our group ordered soups, appetizers and salads. 2 bowls of soup were cold. The other food was good.

We were very pleased with the menu choices, staff, and our dinner selections. We returned with our spouses on a Saturday night and were equally pleased. The food is delicious and we were very happy with... More

Despite the fact we called ahead the night before....and explained we were going to head to playhouse square after for a show and they assured us 2hours is... More
