We met friends here for lunch today. My bacon and cheese burger was excellent, as was the whitebait my wife chose. The staff were helpful and a few checked that everything was to our satisfaction. A minor gripe, why does the burger, chips and coleslaw arrive served on a wooden board ? Quirky maybe, but a plate would have been... More

Lovely location, wonderful restaurant. The restaurant itself was very clean, very helpful and lovely staff, Fast serving yet all food home made and was really tasty. We will be coming back again. Family friendly too.

This used to be a lovely pub. We haven't been since last summer but on Thursday 9th May it was our son's birthday so we all decided to go out for drinks and a meal. The Red Shoot was our choice. We (6 of us) arrived there. No warm welcome, dirty glasses and the table that we sat at was... More

Fabulous pub, fabulous beer festival yet again! Never ceases to amaze me how Jude and her intrepid staff cope with three beery days, yet still smile and run a full menu. When we have time, this would also be our pub of choice for a weekend walk and pub lunch. It's not a fancy restaurant and that's just as it... More

Was staying next door on the campsite (it is a good site too) and decided to have lunch. We all had Ploughmans (they have 3 types) and it was very good. The cheddar was not the best but I reckon we got the end of a lump but should have said something at the time. Lots of nice ales and... More

We did a circular New Forest walk starting at Linford Bottom and stopped at this pub half way round for lunch. Although we were early (12 noon) the pub was already busy, all the tables were taken or reserved but there were some seats outside under parasols which had infra red heaters fitted so it was fine. The pub is... More

We visited over the Easter weekend and despite being very busy (there is a camp site adjacent to the pub) were impressed by the warm welcome and excellent food. Muddy boots/paws all welcome!

First I will say that the pub is quite nice and in a lovely location, but they really do need to invest in a chef who has pride in what they do. The first time I had food there, I had bangers and mash with onion gravy; the bangers were charred and dry, the mash was lumpy and poorly seasoned... More

It's nice. Phil Lowen was singing there today, and we had a well-deserved drink before heading back into the cold and the wind of our Easter Bank Holiday!
