Brilliant place. Efficient, polite staff. High quality and varied menu. Prompt service .Good ale. Nice reasonably priced hotel rooms Round the corner from the Downton Abbey village of Bamptona and close to the head waters of the Thames and William Morris' house at Kelmscott. Too good to be true ,but it is.

Thanks for a great weekend. I was part of a party of 8 attending a friends wedding and the staff treated us like royalty. The Plough is a beautiful place to stay. If your going to the Cotswolds stay here you will not be disappointed. PS the gin is good to.

The staff were very friendly only complaint was the steak and chips at £24 plus. The chips were soggy oven chips and the Bearnaise sauce was insipid and tasteless. When I asked about it I was told by the cook I could not recognize the genuine article. It all left a bad taste.

A beautiful old manor house with an open fire. I dined in the bar area and found the food (I had venison encroute) vey tasty. Sevice was a little slow but nothing to worry about in a relaxed meal. The Plough is known for its large selection of Gin. A very enjoyable evening.

I loved going to The Plough and after a little blip it is back on form and I shall love going again. The menu is excellent. I had the Arnold Bennet omelette which was not as good as it used to be but was still pretty tasty. My friend had the Kelmscott pork chop whuch was huge. It could have... More

My boyfriend and I stopped here last minute and luckily they had one room spare. It was a small room but had everything we needed and was lovely and cosy. They even gave us their Easter special offer early. We ate in the bar which lacked a bit of atmosphere and didn't have very comfy. The food was good but... More

Had heard good things about the Plough but found it a rather ordinary pub. Menu was unexciting and more expensive than many higher end places Overall, a big disappointment

I visited this restaurant with a friend without booking as the tavern opposite was closed for refurbish and what a lovely surprise. Always thought building beautiful but read reviews long ago that led me to believe it might be a bit 'stuffy'. The staff were lovely, the ambience warm and cosy with tea lights on the mullion window ledges. The... More

Stopped by recently (and on the spur of the moment ) for supper . It was a cold snowy night but the welcome we received was anything but! Chose to eat in the bar area rather than the restaurant as it was so cosy. The venison we both chose as a main course was truly sublime.Deliciously pink, tender and full... More

An excellent meal on a Saturday night. Sampled some of the special gins and most of the party enjoyed the excellent 10 oz sirloin steaks. Their loss as I had the gilt head bream which was simply fantastic (but then this is linked with Fishers in Oxford)! Lemon posset, sticky toffee and a very nice cheeseboard to finish. Really good...
