Alpine Inn is a staple of Hill City, SD. Everyone recommends you stop by to eat while in town. They only serve 6 or 9 oz. steaks with wedge of lettuce and baked potato for dinner. If you want to get first seating be there at 4 pm when they open the doors. They do not open up the dining... More

We went to the Alpine Inn for dinner with my 2 children and in-laws. We were surprised to find out that there is only 2 things on the menu: Steak or a Veggie Primavera type entrée. We ordered and were pleasantly surprised. All of our food was delicious. For dessert, the menu is full of choices and everything we had... More

VERY nice. Bar in front, crowded, homey (motel on premises) filed mignon, excellent, extraordinary dessert menu they only had the filet on the menu, not a problem, price was right. Service was excellent!

The reason some reviewers talk about how strangely limited the menu is (only filet mignon) and others rave about the German specialities and salads is that the lunch menu and dinner menu--and indeed, the entire atmosphere--is vastly different at these different seatings. At dinner, you get filet mignon, small or large, with a baked potato and wedge salad. That's it.... More

After hearing good things we tried to get into the Alpine Inn one evening for dinner but decided not to endure the 45 minute wait. However, after stopping back the next day for lunch I wish we had done the wait. Obviously the lunch menu was not at the level as the dinner menu but my Reuben, my wife's Schnitzel... More

Lunch at the Alpine Inn was great. There are lots of choices on the menu and the service is very good. The meat and cheese board offered a variety of flavors and was certainly more than enough to eat. The baked apple dessert was outstanding. The people next to us had some of the German dishes and said they were... More

Took my family out to lunch at the Alpine in as it was recommend widely by the locals ofthe area. They had a huge selection of items for lunch that pleased even our picky eaters. Food was all home made and you could tell!

The salad was one of the best I have had and wish I lived there to go back and try their German dishes and their desserts. I was too full to eat more. Should have taken one with me.

It was good, but not exceptional. It was extremely crowded, which is fine, but the dinner was just average. We did enjoy sitting in the bar and listening to the music before dinner. The restaurant was recommended by the staff at the cabins where we were staying.

The Alpine Inn is certainly unique. It was very crowded when we visited. We were entertained by the gentleman singing a variety of music in the bar area. The menu is simple. Two options. You can order a "small" or large" bacon wrapped filet. Everyone gets a wedge salad, baked potato and Texas toast. That's it! (There may be a... More
