Had dinner on 5/9.. Nice atmosphere, decent bar scene; ordered the 'off the menu NY strip' which was nicely seared on all sides.. However the meat was nit tender. Yes I know a NY strip is not a ribeye but this was a nice cut of meat, just not tender. Flavor was ok.
Went to the republic on that last day of a weeklong business trip to college station.
The front of the building will throw off the first time visitor by being in the end of a largely defunct shopping center. Ignore that because it is a wonderful place.
The interior is meticulously decorated in the ‘old school” steakhouse style. Ornate woods,...

don't go there often because a typical dinner will set you back $50 to $75 per person; however for special occasions, it is the best choice along with Christopher's (which is as good...but MUCH noisier!). the filet mingon and the plank steak are both wonderful, as are the scallops. the side dish of scalloped onions is worth the extra cost....

What a wonderful experience! I can’t remember ever eating a better NY Strip steak.
The Republic Steakhouse is located in a substantial brick structure, situated on the side of a shopping center, decorated with the mandatory dark paneling. It has great ambience. We started off with a Willamette Pinot Noir and a double order of Chicken Fried Oysters. They oysters...

Delicious food - been to top notch restaurants from Montreal to LA and NY and Chicago, travel the globe and this was right up there - best mushroom soup ever!!!!
Celebrated my birthday with a wonderful dinner and superb service at the Republic tonight. We had the filet...cooked to perfection...and the sides of Mac and cheese and bacon potatoes were very good . The dessert of apple pecan French Toast was just the right finish. Our server was Justin and service was great. We will certainly go again!
There has not been one item at The Republic that I wouldn't recommend. Their steaks are excellent, specials divine, and deserts are a must. I am a fan of the apple french toast desert item. No matter what steak you chose, the Yukon bacon and onion potato side must not be overlooked! Their vegetables are always fresh and well seasoned....

My boyfriend and I went to The Repulic last week to celebrate my birthday, and, as always, had a fabulous experience!!! I must admit that the handcrafted cocktails are my favorite part, but they also have a 150 bottle whiskey wall. Beat that! I usually change up what I get to eat. This time we got Blue Point oysters on...

It is a nice formal dining place. offered 3-course, 4-course, 5-course meals. The best of all I happened to meet President old Bush and Barbara. That's definitely worth all the effort to going to The Republic.
