We wanted a quick inexpensive meal in Galveston so we checked out Tripadvisor and the Gumbo Bar got high marks. It is everything that the reviews have said about it. The gumbo was great, as good as any that I have had in New Orleans and the service good. We sat outside and enjoyed dining alfresco. We will be back.

Between us we had gumbo, wedge salad and fish po boy. The gumbo was just ok, it wasn't the best we've had( def not the worst though either)... Po boy was on point!!!! The wedge salad was great. We sat outside and that was nice. Would definitely go back!

The food and service is consistently wonderful-manager Jan Is always so helpful and takes care of everything! Make sure and try the chargrilled oysters and we love the Greek salad and the New Orleans style shrimp! Don't forget to come to this spot!

Well, they can move the place to New Orleans, they'll still make a killing ! We stopped there for lunch and were very pleased to get great Cajun food. Efficient service and fair prices.

The Big Easy shrimp was yummy! Fresh shrimp in a delicious sauce awesome for sopping up with fresh French bread. Fair number of choices, but i already know what i want when i go back!

If you love gumbo then this is the place for you. They have many different choices of gumbo made directly for you. If you also loved steamed kettle seafood pots, they have a few yummy ones as well. The atmosphere feels homie and spacing is small inside but outside seating is available as well. You won't be disappointed.
