Amazing ice cream & shakes. It had a very charming atmosphere and even though it was crowded the service was fast & friendly. I wish I would have gotten at least one or two pieces of chocolate to try. The salt water taffy had many flavor choices, I tried about 8 of them, they were all really good, too. Would... More

Must visit with or without kids. Our kids have never seen a shop like this, so they were completely in awe of the candy cases and selection. As an adult, they have so many of the candies we ate as kids. Just so fun! We indulged and ordered the king sized banana split. It was enormous! 5 of us couldn't... More

ok $6 for a shake and $10 for a banana split is a lot, but everything is fresh and made onsite. spent $40 on site-made candy too. i was literally a kid in a candy store. if you visit the Strand, you have to visit this store!

We have been going to La Kings every time we are in town for many years. A true old fashioned soda fountain, candy counters, ice cream, old timey tables, and the taffy making machines to watch. If you happen to be there when the taffy is being mechanically twisted into candy wrappers, you may get to catch a piece thrown... More

We try to eat breakfast or lunch at the Sunflower every time we get to Galveston. Consistently good. Fresh tasty fare. Cute casual place.

I have been coming to LaKings since I was a kid. I was really worried after the storm that LaKinds wouldn't come back, and was ecstatic when I saw it re-open. This is a must-do when you are in town.

Great candy store, old soda fountain, and ice cream. Kids had a blast picking out gummy rattlesnakes and sharks, getting ice cream, and seeing the old soda fountain. Great memories.

After you eat lunch at a cute restaurant on the Strand you have to visit LA King's for dessert! They have amazing candies of all kinds including a large selection of ice cream and shakes. While you eat you can watch the candy maker make candy....really is an amazing art. I will be back and I definitely recommend trying the... More

I went here when I was a little girl and now I brought my girls! The strawberry cream cheese frozen yogurt was so delicious! We bought lots of goodies to take home. Loved the old-timed atmosphere and the salt water taffy.
