We ate here yesterday for the first time. The waitress, lety, seemed to be the only waitress working , which left us waiting for quite some time for menus and drinks. Once other patrons were taken care of, we had pretty good service from her. She recommend the special of the day; a burrito with chicken fajita meat smothered in... More

Picantes must be known for the humongous burritos. The carnage asada is our favorite. Their enchiladas are another favorite. This is authenic Mexican food. Service is fast. Prices are in line with other Mexican food places in town. Staff is attentive and friendly.

I had the carnitas plate while my partner had the steak plate. It was good and tasty, although my reheated carnitas smelled a little off...reheated pork/lard tends to smell. I wished I had gone for the stewed pork in red sauce. I asked the waitress for a recommendation between the two and she chose the carnitas. The complimentary chips and... More

Was looking all over Lubbock for a restaurant that served gorditas, and this was the only place that did (as far as I know). The meat was really good and with the right amount of spices. Rice and beans were flavorful and were a good combination with the main course. Salsa was more tomato-based, but good overall, and the service... More

I am from San Antonio and this is very different from what I am used to. I did not care for the food at all. The enchiladas are either red or green sauce. Flour tortillas are not homemade as pointed out by the waitress. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Great Mexican food!! Especailly the red enchiladas. Best in Lubbock I have ever tasted. When moving from El Paso about 5 years ago, my husband and I could not find any place with Authentic Red Cheese Enchiladas. We would always laugh because restaurants would put "Gravy" on their enchiladas. What the Heck is gravy? It tasted like CHILI DOG SAUCE.... More

the dishes are different to what i am used to eat. The food that they serve is from Michoacan and seems they use different spices, it was a good meal, the best was the Mexican soda.... Coca cola or manzana.

Jamie has created the most satisfying plate of food: eggs (cooked to order), skillet style potatoes, refried beans, and your choice of meat, all served with warm fresh tortillas on the side so you can build your own burritos....yum! Oh, don't forget the chips and salsa.
