Joe's is a local institution, open only in the summer months. You can tell the season by Joe's. Can't wait for it to open again. Features great fried food, subs. smoked meat sandwiches, all the milk shakes and floats you could ever want, and everything fried (mushrooms, corn fritters, clams -- always have clams) you could ever stand. Joe's is a local, fairly famous snack bar. If you go there expecting fine dining, or an exquisite atmosphere, you'll be disappointed. However, if you are looking for a good bite to eat with some fries and a shake, you can't go wrong. Take it from a local.
30 cents extra for jimmies!.... NEXT I only go for cree mees sans jimmies, I usually do to not having the time to wait for a food order. The river is nice to walk too. Depending on the time of day, getting in and out onto RT 15from the parking lot can be a little hair raising.

sence the original owner has passed away we have not really stoped for food, we normaly just get ice cream. they are a bit pricey on their food, its good but i can get the same thing cheeper somewhere else.
My family has eaten here ever since I was little! We recently went up, from NC and made it a point to eat there. We even tried to make time to go back again the next day. The fries and the Michigan's are awesome! I wish they'd put the vinegar in a jug though, a spray bottle doesn't cut it!...

It's not about the food. It's about Joe. He's no longer around but his snack bar has been for many, many years. There is an old Red Mill next door with a rushing river next to it. Fun to see the river and the gift shop is filled with really good quality Vermont crafts and trinkets.
