On a recent visit to the South Boston Va area we were looking for a nice place to eat and drink off the beaten path. On the recomendation of some locals we ended up at Berry Hill Plantation. This place is Amazing!!! We drove down the almost 1 mile driveway to find a beautiful Plantaion house that looks like something... More

Food was okay, service was below average and we were the only ones eating. Bar crowd got all the attention. With the ambiance of the old plantation kitchen, large fireplaces and original stone floor so much more could be accomplished with this space. An investment could turn this tavern into a cool location to eat or the local watering hole.

The food was quite good and the atmosphere is superb - being in the converted 1840's kitchen of the Berry Hill Plantation house the ambiance is superb. The wait and bar staff very friendly. Prices very reasonable.

We enjoy the laid back atmosphere of Darby's Tavern. Really love the stone floor and the beautiful stone fireplace. Not a large place but just right. Dont like huge restaurants that most seem to lack in charm and history. There are a few tv's in there, gives a small sports bar appeal with history!!

Darby's is open at 5pm each day and is a gem. We had a great evening talking to some of the people who live in the area and frequent the tavern. Travis, the bartender, is a very engaging young man. He knew more of the history of Berry Hill than some of the staff. We had a very good meal... More

Everything was wonderful - the noise level a bit loud during the early evenings.

Stayed at the Berry Hill hotel for a few days but ate in the tavern. The price of drinks is very reasonable and the food is cooked to order. All the staff make you feel very welcome and are very knowledgeable abut the history. Travis is an asset to the bar. MadFrank, Southampton, England

Darby's Tavern is a good place for a beer or a glass of wine in the afternoon/evening along with some lite fare. They push their hushpuppies as a signature item and caution that they are made with jalopenos. They are good - but not exceptional. They are not "hot" so the warning was not necessary. The sweet potato waffle fries... More
