Apparently the cutting corners cought up with the place. It was recently closed. It did become over priced and food quality began to be noticed.
Franco as the art of preparing Italian food down. Do not be afraid to ask if you want an item prepared to your taste.
Not a complicated menu, but should please anyone who enjoys an Italian meal. The chef/owner runs a good kitchen that also provides good service. We've been here many times and have never been disappointed.
The service is what you come to expect at most authentic Italian/European restaurants. A little slow, sometimes off putting, and usually I would not put up with this however, the owner is from Sicily and he does still have that authenticity about him. The portions are excellent, there are always several specials and the ingredients are very fresh. The food... More
We observed a few deceptions in our experience at Sorrento's. Canola oil was substituted for olive oil to dip our bread in. At the adjacent table we watched Franco show the diners their bottle of wine, but take it back to the kitchen to "uncork" it. What he brought back is unknown. Spinach was substituted for basil on my friend's... More
We were looking for a meal while passing through town. Saw Italian and went. There were plastic flowers which were extremely dusty, dirty carpet and the silverware and plates were not clean. The menu was hugh, there was only the chef and one waiter, and the bread was stale and it was not olive oil. Sorry we got scared and... More
Franco, owner and chef from southern Italy, out did himself again! Lucky us. So hard to choose between the veal topped w/scampi & white sauce, fresh salmon, the best carbonnara outside of Italy-however I couldn't resist the ricotta ravioli topped with lemon cream sauce, tender asparagus, with a generous amount of delicious fresh dungeness crab topped with parmesano. Prices include... More
I ordered the linguine del golfo, which sounded delicious – shrimp, rosemary, basil, pine nuts in a white wine sauce. What arrived was cheap spheghetti and six overdone shrimp. I had to search for anything else and at the bottom of the plate was a trace amount of flavorless cheap wine. There was no rosemary and the basil was definitely... More
My husband and I just finished dinner tonight at what we consider "the best" italian resturant that we have EVER eaten at. The service (by a very polite and quick) young man was just the kind of service I expect when I am out on a much needed dinner night out with my husband. Not the kind of place that... More
Hubby and I went for a romantic night, not our first time there...but will be the last. We had reservations which didn't seem to matter. We waited 30 minutes for a table. Then once we were seated waited -no kidding- 45 minutes for a water glass and weird cold bread. The remaining 2 hours turned into a comedy show watching... More
