I think this is more of a breakfast place. The swedish pancakes are amazing...the meatballs are just OK (my swedish grandma made the best meatballs). My son loves to go here and enjoy the whole experience...gift shop, swedish combo plate for breakfast, and the goats on the roof.

So we stayed two nights in Door County and had to have breakfast both mornings at this place. Even without the goats on the roof ( there was still snow on the ground and the goats are warm in a barn) this place has charm. Charm as in every waiter is dressed for the part and the decor makes you... More

My wife, son (4yo), daughter (1yo), mother- and father-in-law, and I ate lunch here. Let's just say I was entirely underwhelmed with both the food and service and mostly annoyed with both the price and the wait. There are some really nice places to eat, this isn't one of them. I'd skip this place. The goats on the roof (during... More

We ate at Al Johnson's when I was kid and forty years later they still have the same plastic, uncomfortable orange chairs - what's up with that? When were plastic orange chairs ever in vogue for a restaurant? The decor has literally not changed an iota in forty years. Anyway, I have been there several times in the last three... More

The layout of the building is very neat. They have a gift shop to your right, and the dining room to your left. The gift shop has anything you could want that is Sweedish. The dining area also has a veriety of sweedish dishes. I got the Sweedish Meatballs, they were ok. I enjoyed the cracker samples that were given... More

Breakfast is awesome! We have ate here twice now and we would definitely come back! Everyone is friendly and they have a different menu which is nice! The goats are cool too!

So nice to have a restaurant opened in the winter-time in Door County. Breakfast is especially good. The wait staff is attentive and friendly. After eating, visit the 'Butik'- it has a lot of lovely items!

I have been going to Al Johnson's my whole life, and I absolutely love it. Swedish pancakes, Swedish meatballs, eggs, and coffee are the perfect start to any day. The staff is professional and friendly, and by our second visit on this trip, we were regulars and felt right at home.

We were recommended by two local people, and went in the late morning. They serve breakfast all day, so I was able to get breakfast while my husband chose a lunch option. We both tried traditional Swedish dishes and were very happy with our selections. The wait staff was friendly and helpful, making us feel right at home and giving... More
