Definitely will return to this family-run restaurant next time I'm in Hilo. I asked the lady who took our order the difference between small and large saimin bowls. She smilingly said, "The small is sufficient." True! I couldn't finish the generous portion of traditional saimin topped with house-grilled char siu, wontons, egg strips, fish cake, & bok choy served in... More

Nori's has got some of the best saimin in the islands. Old style. Local style. The kind of saimin I remember from the 1960s, when I was growing up. It's getting trickier and trickier to find virtually unchanged local saimin these days. We have the popular and ubiquitous ramen -- which is not saimin. And we have pho from Vietnam... More

We were told about Nori's after asking a bartender where to go for an inexpensive meal. It is hard to find, we drove past it twice. Turn in to the parking area and drive towards the back, you'll see it midway down. It has a cafe feel, with small booths and a few long tables in the center. The menu... More

Great local kine saimin, wonderful "hot pot" additions to their menu, sizzling platters with tofu and/or fish, chocolate mochi cake ala mode and so many fresh local daily specials. ;P Noriʻs is a cozy space that has customers seated close and possibly sharing a table next to each other. The key is to be patient with service and your experience... More

It's the only Saimin place in town, so I go there. The broth is inconsistently good. I go there for the nori burger and strawhaupia pie. The Saimin is plentiful, but you may want to request a pot of hot water to dilute the saltiness.

I love saimin & udon & chow fun. I ate there for dinner the two nights we were in town. They also have a cute little gift shop selling local snacks & Hello Kitty merchandise. Cute little family run operation. They serve really yummy local food with HUGE portions.

I've eaten at Nori's on 2 other occasions and when we were in Hilo, we made it a point to stop here again. Its sort of difficult to find the location as its nestled in a business building. Parking is plentiful. Lots of seating available. I ordered a saimin which I did not eat even half of the order. Not... More

Had a family dinner, eight of us, and it was an enjoyable experience. I had a small one ton min and the only thing that was small was the bowl. It was filled to the brim with noodles, one ton and savory broth. I also had a Nori's cheese burger and 2 Bar-B Que sticks. I was stuffed and I... More

A bunch of us went there to eat noodles. I had the waitress show us the small and large bowls. I thought, "Hmm, that's too small". I'm so used to other restaurants putting little bit of noodles in whatever size bowls. I ordered the Super. Yea, that's what I did ... snort, snort (like a pig). There was no bottom... More

We ate here instead of Ken's Pancake house on a late Friday night because I insisted. It's been one of my favorite must-stops for the last ten years, and I didn't want to miss another opportunity to enjoy their great food. Unfortunately, because of the HCC graduation and state track meet, it was crowded and we had to wait about... More
