My boyfriend did a lot of great things when we visited Bar Harbor, but I remember our dinner at the Burning Tree as being a highlight. It's a bit of a drive, but was well worth it. The house and gardens are lovely, and the whole experience was really romantic for the two of us. I'm not sure when we'd... More

Excellent dinner, cocktails, dessert and service. Creative refreshing and delicious. The experience builds like Miles Davis' Kind of Blue. A must do when visiting the area. We will be back.

I had a reservation and still had to wait 40 minutes to be seated. The food was average at best. the portions were very smal and overpriced. Service was good. I have no idea why this is ranked #1. There are many better restaurants in Bar Harbor.

My girlfriend is a Bar Harbor native and recommended this place. It was a short drive outside of town and the place was packed when we arrived, although we did make a reservation. I immediately noticed the gardens around the establishment as we parked, noting that not only did the owners purchase locally harvested ingredients but they also GREW their... More

Season was winding down the night we visited. The restaurant was full when we arrived at 8 but was almost empty when we finished. The location is a short drive from Bar Harbor. The food was very good, we enjoyed the sole and swordfish. The service was good, waitress was very friendly. The room was unusually cold, could have been... More

Burning Tree is an extraordinary restaurant. The chef/owner opened the restaurant 25 years ago and it remains a creative oasis with real attention to local ingredients. Our quail and fish preparations were imaginative, flavorful, and well presented. The wine list is interesting and the service was friendly and appropriately attentive. The setting is understated but the food is world class.... More

From beginning to end, everything was great. Closing night for the season and their 25th anniversary. Wait staff in costume, service was excellent . Food was unusual in presentation and flavor. Mixing fresh , grown on site, swiss chard with scallops, lobster and a dill cream sauce over pasta... who would ever think it could be so good. Every bite... More

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Burning Tree last week while in Bar Harbor. The place is lively but not overly noisy, has a rustic and funky decor, comfortable and pleasant. The menu features local seasonal vegetables paired with imaginative main course dishes. I had monkfish on a bed of spaetzle and red cabbage and spinach.... More

The menu at this long honored restaurant promises so much but the products on the plate and at the table don't live up to your anticipation. Flavors often clash or overwhelm each other. A Harissa sauce wipes out the mussels that sit over it. The sorrel sauce(excellent in its own right) overwhelms the seafood mousse that sits on it. A... More
