The food, service and atmosphere here was fantastic........poached shrimp and gnocchi among better ever had......service was impeccable and being a bit outside of town made it even more enjoyable.....small so reservations a must but plenty of table room.....excellent selection of wines by glass......we'd put it even or slightly better than Reading Room and well ahead of Cafe This Way.......Would recommend... We have been to this place a number of times, and the food has been a disappointment every time. When I see how highly it is rated here, and read the comments, I have to scratch my head in disbelief. It is really overrated. My wife and I were just there again, and this time resolved never to go back.

Wow. These customers were the grouchiest we have seen in years:) Our little place is not for everyone and it's sort of like you either get what we are trying to do or you don't. The menu changes daily according to what is available at the 5 farmers markets a week that we gather from. If I went to a... More

We are so glad our B&B recommended this local favorite! It was by far our best meal in Bar Harbor. Great meal, wine list, atmosphere and of course, desserts! The lemon cake is definitely worth every bite!

We read the reviews for the top restaurants in Bar Harbor. We only had one night to dine out, but it was early in the season and many of our options were not yet open. We opted for this place and were very happy with our choice. The atmosphere was a lovely balance of cozy and not too pretentious. One... More

This is a sweet small restaurant with great atmosphere. Most of the dishes (especially the fish) are wonderful. However, the desserts are fabulous. And my favorite is the lemon cake, really a super-lemony pudding on top, cake on bottom. Don't miss it!

The Town Hill Bistro is a small, intimate restaurant away from the madness of downtown Bar Harbor. Even though the menu isn't extensive, we still had a difficult time choosing from the imaginative offerings. All were fresh, creative and beautifully prepared. We lingered for two hours over a sumptuous dinner.

We went here for my husband's birthday, and it was really special. The ever-changing menu is fantastic, and the food is second-to-none. We started out with white asparagus and ramp & sunchoke soups, then moved on to divine clams steamed in a spicy-smoky broth I can't remember the name of. The clams were the best thing I ate in our... My husband and I had an excellent dinner here on our honeymoon. The service was very friendly and laid back. We were never rushed, although when we finally left we realized we had been there for two hours! Each item we ordered (soup, duck confit, braised pork, sesame tofu, cocoa gingerbread, creme brûlée) was prepared and presented perfectly, not too... More

If the mission of this cozy bistro is to offer the clean flavors, high quality ingredients and pair with exceptional wine choices, then they have hit the mark! The pan-fried gnocchi was perfection and the asian braised dark meat chicken appealed to my "meat and potatoes" partner. Service was excellent (Thanks, Liz and Maureen!!) - personalities were warm, inviting and... More

Be sure to reserve a table in advance to insure a fabulous dining experience - this local and tourist favorite is not a "walk-in" establishment. I've enjoyed the bistro's creative farm-to-table menu for two summers now and confess to having fantasies about their hand-made pan seared gnocchi with fresh peas, mushrooms and onions in a bed of lemon-thyme cream sauce....
