Description: Husband and wife team Lori Baker and Jeff Banker opened the doors to their restaurant on December 1, 2009. Located in an old apothecary in the residential Pacific Heights neighborhood, Baker and Banker serves up a convivial ambiance for its fresh farm-to-table New American cuisine. Caramel colored walls and leather banquettes summon diners to relax and savor multifaceted dishes from Chef Jeff Banker. Pastry Chef Lori Baker turns out hand crafted breads and sophisticated versions of classic American desserts. Between 16 and 20 wines are available by the glass, and the list favors food-friendly naturally produced wines from sustainably grown grapes.

I recently attended a wedding dinner at this wonderful restaurant. Guests were served a multi-course meal [with choices] and matching wines. The food was very, very good. The service was amazing. The staff managed admirably with guests frequently changing seats and almost certainly getting in the way! Very smooth. Baker & Banker helped create an outstanding atmosphere for a memorable... More

(same review as I put on Yelp) Make no mistake, this place is among the upper echelon of great eating here in San Francisco. The *only* reason I did not give it a 5 is that I reserve that rating for over the top...flavors...service...atmosphere. Service - solid and commendable, but there were two incidents of dropped dishes right next to... More

Intimate little restaurant in residential district on Octavia Street. Nicely decorated. Arrived on time and had to wait while a table was found for us. Probably the best salad I've had in America - herbs, butter lettuce, slices of blood orange. A riot of tastes and textures. The wonderful fresh bread selection justifying the baker part of the restaurants name,.... More

You couldn't ask for a more classic San Francisco restaurant setting. I smallish dining room that is bustling with energy. The restaurant is in an upscale residential neighborhood and there's a lovely richness to the ambiance. Clearly, a lot of attention goes into menu innovation and food preparation. Our appetizers and entres were very good and the desserts were outstanding.... More

This is a great neighborhood spot. It's a bit on the pricey side but the intimacy and quality of food are so worth it. Even the bread basket starter special was amazing. Since it's small, (maybe 20 tables total?), I'd recommend for only couples or groups of four or less. However, they do offer a chef's table in the bakery... More

We didn't discover this eatery and bakery until the morning of our departure, so we can't comment on the restaurant. But the bread and cookies we bought to take with us were scrumptious.

A business associate and I dined here and as always it never disappoints. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The menu is simple and changes often. We ordered the Miso Cod with Sticky Rice and bak choy--so yummy. We also tried the trout appetizer with fresh beets on a potato latke. I am always willing to try new foods... More

My wife, nephew and I ate at Baker and Banker the 5th of March 2013. The food was very good, but there was nothing more on the plate than was ordered (main course only), no sides, and no option to add any. Even the basket of bread needed to be ordered separately. The appetizer while very good, are also on... More

Context: we walked up to the Bakery on Nob Hill from Union Square, about a mile and all up. We arrived at the restaurant about 8:55am not sure where the bakery was. Reading the menu sign at the restaurant, it stated the bakery was around the corner. We were looking for a place to hang out, have coffee and a... More
