Great little mexican place. The food was very good and the prices were very reasonable. They also have great happy hours. You should definitely give it try!
We stopped in to wait for our friends who were still shopping in Union Square. The margarita and the Mojito were $4.00 each! They were large and flavorful. The chips and salsa for two were $1.95! To give you some perspective, one Mojito at another restaurant the night before was more expensive than the entire happy hour bill here including... More
I'd not been to the Sotano Grill for many years... since, in fact, I'd regularly dined there while on 'crew-layovers' after long-trips (from Japan) across the Pacific. My wife had been here with me once-before... but I'd always enjoyed the 'food & margaritas', & it was close to our hotel. When we walked-in, there weren't many people inside... so I... More
After a long day on our feet, the restaurants' proximity to our hotel proved inviting. You could never judge this place by it's exterior which could detract some folk. We had Burrito and Tortilla Baskets with Nachos as a side. Some of the nachos were undercooked and flaccid, but this didn't take that much away from the mains which were... More
We were tired and didn't want to walk any further. We were not expecting much, but we were pleasantly surprised. While the margarita's were just okay, the food was very good. We each had the vegetarian burritto. They were huge and more than we could eat. The guacamole was very good and tasted like it was made on site. The... More
The old man is the opposite of nice, we didn't tell him anything but he was rude and the opposite of nice telling us offensive things.
The food is not bad, the service was awfull. There's an old rude guy who thinks he can say offensive things to his costumers. Not recommended.
My wife and I went to El Sotano on evening of 22 August. Very nice restaurant and fast service. We are both vegetarians and the meal we had was the best meal ever. It was inexpensive, very nice tasting, and very filling. We wanted a mexican meal and El Sotano didn't disappoint us. We would definitely go again if we... More
We stopped in for snacks and drinks after walking around for a couple hours, we had some time before a late dinner and just wanted something light. Service was fast and friendly. Nice atmosphere - just what you would expect in a Mexican grill. Plenty of TV's to watch with varied programs, good cold beers and margaritas. They had horchata... More
