Visited Miette Cakes in the indoor market area of the ferry building. Great chocolates, candies and cakes - I purchased the candies as a special treat as it is easy to transport.
Miette, Miette, I don't regret. I saw your sign when first we met. Devine your cookies and great your cakes: the Scharffen Berger! my heart it breaks! And even closer to my beating heart is your execution of your Lemon Tart!
My piece of chocolate cake was wonderful. Filling and ganache were great. This is a carryout place in the Ferry Building so no dine in option but the patio nearby was sunny and a nice place to enjoy my cake.
I only had the one, but it was delicious. Chocolate with buttercream frosting. And not too sweet the way some cakes and icing can be. Just right. Perfectly moist. Will definitely stop by again next time I'm in town.
I bought their cookbook last year and couldn't wait to visit the shop in Sanfrancisco. There cupcakes were the best I've ever eaten. So moist and delicious. I was in heaven! You will love the cute, pastel, retro look to the shop. The cookbook is a must have in your collection!
Whenever I'm at the Ferry Building I have to buy the ginger cookies which make me feel healthy rather than overindulgent. Then I try to decide which flavor shortbread cookies to get, all good but the walnut ones frequently win out. Everything is wonderful but those two are must-haves.

This store especially has a great range of gift treats. I personally loved the macarons and the chocolate chip cookie. The bakery also has its own cookbook... More
The ferry building shops aren't as "touristy" as one might think, even though they're next to the port. They're more 'street market meets gourmet' foodie-style and pretty much fabulous. Miette Cakes was a great find as I was picking up some gift treats. The macarons (I think there were six varieties but my favorites were the pistachio and hazelnut) were... More
The only macaroons I'll ever eat again would be at Miette. Tried many macaroons but no one makes it better than Miette. It's pricey but worth every bite you pay for. I've never tried anything else, because, I can't stop buying the marcaroons. Love it.
It was so hard to choose a treat from this little bakery because everything looked so wonderful. We ended up with an assortment of macaroons that were presented in a darling box tied up sweetly with cotton string. The displays throughout the stand were lovely. I was intrigued with the cake decorations for sale - especially the tiny posies. My... More
