It's rated #1 Italian restaurant in San Diego for good reason. Small hole-in-the-wall place but elegant, friendly and the food is fantastic.
Based on Tripadvisor reviews, I decided to have dinner here today. Unfortunately that was a bad choice. The entrees were ready when we just started our apetizers and they were willing to 'put it on the stove'. But 5 minutes later they brought the entrees anyway and our unfinished starters were put in a box. We were offered a bottle... More
Returning to San Diego after several years after moving away, we enjoyed a celebratory meal with the kids, and took our time over dinner. Food was fine, I love that the same favorites are still on the menu (especially "bis" for the undecided) but we all tried specials anyway. Great service, easy parking, excellent food.
...and next to the Irish Pub, Cafe Luna is a neighborhood place well worth seeking out. Bucatini was a nice twist on what I had in Rome - pasta perfectly cooked and sauced with the right amount of spice and eggplant chunks. SO had penne in cream sauce with sausage, which he liked a lot. Atmosphere is nice,if a little... More
I wanted to try out Italian food during my latest trip to San Diego, and we went to Cafe Luna. I liked the place, though it seemed to have denser seating arrangement. But the food was really delicious.
If you did not know the location of this restaurant you might miss it. In the back corner of a strip mall behind a strip mall, tucked behind a Carls Junior, next to a take out Mexican restaurant, Cafe Luna is a bright, bright star which has gone through several owners and several chefs plus several mis steps, but now... We used to frequent this neighborhood find tucked away in a Carmel Mountain strip mall because we enjoyed the pleasant French twist on traditional Italian dishes. We stopped going, though, as we just moved on to other restaurants. A few months ago we returned and found Cafe Luna had really stepped up its fare. It is still cozy and charming.... More
Ordered the Hearts of Palm Shrimp Salad for lunch it was great the service was great...a great spot for lunch..going back to try dinner. I ate there several years ago and it was great still it..the fresh bread and dipping sauce..thumbs up!
Hidden from view, behind Carl's, Jr., next to a taco shop -- a really good high end Italian restaurant. We've been going there for years and never had anything but good service and excellent food. You'll need a reservation, and it's not inexpensive, bot you will not be unhappy. Try the Veal Marsala.
