Nice meal in a convenient location. Be sure to have goat cheese salad and lingonberries drink. Quite tasty.
It was nice have a meal after a fun filled afternoon at the Scandinavia House. Unfortunately, the kids meatballs were too salty so my daughter was not able to eat much but her sides. It's in the lobby area so you can people watch... A bit pricey.
We have been here many times because we go to the movies at Scandinavia House often. Usually the service is slow but they seem to have improved quite a bit. The food was better than we remembered; our favorites continue to be the Swedish meatballs with lingonberries and mashed potatoes and the large herring plate. Desserts are wonderful; I had... More
Wait staff was abrupt at first. Was reluctant to give us a private table even though the restaurant was 3/4 empty but with persistence we were seated at a better table. Food and Service was excellent making for a wonderful brunch experience.
We booked a reservation for dinner and were surprised at the lack of atmosphere and the poor service. Our waiter was terrible, and not attentive. I think it'd be a nice place to eat if going to the House, but we were out for dinner. There were no drinks, unlike on the website, so either they lost the liquor license... More
Love this place. The Scandinavian Center is a cool building with great programming and Smorgas is a terrific place to eat! Try the Swedish meatballs and the goat cheese and beat salad! Very tasty. Lots of great fish dishes as well... cooked, fortunately for all of us the lutefisk is not on the menu. The ham and jarlsberg sandwich is... More
The looks and taste of the food are very pleasing. the service is good, location- in the center of the city. we liked it very much including the no-meat menu.
Had lunch with a girlfriend at Scandinavia House yesterday. It was busy and bustling at 2pm - with a mix of local business men, ladies who lunch and the odd tourist lucky enough to land at this creative venue decorated with a full sized tree from floor to ceiling in the center of the room. Our food was served by... More
This is a great cultural center the middle of Manhattan. the restaurant Smorgas cafe is a smorgasbord of Scandinavian fare. the interior is bright with white and a birch tree transplanted in the middle of the room. The food is organic and sublime..our group ordered and loved the gravlax, Swedish meatball plate, lingonberry juice and raspberry princess cake with marzipan.... More
This little cafe came recommended because it is atypical. Featuring food items from Scandinavian countries, we had a memorable meal here complete with gravlax, herring, a warm potato cake, beets and crunchy wafers. The Norwegian beers were superb. I recommend the assortment or smorgasbord tray, which includes a great selection of many of the foods of this part of the... More
