I can't even tell you how impressed I was with this restaurant! My boyfriend (a meat eater) and myself (vegan) went to this restaurant after a recommendation from our concierge at The New York Palace. WoW! I can't say it enough. It was THAT good! Our appetizer was the Guacamole Timbale (AMAZING,) I had the Pumpkin seed encrusted Tempeh (AMAZING,)... More

Love the fact that everything is vegan. So many delightful choices, I had a hard time deciding what to order. They must have just bought a truck-load of fiddlehead ferns because it seemed that every other dish had them in it, it was kind of funny. Everything we ordered tasted great. The desserts were fantastic, too. My son ordered the... More

Our food was lovely - service excellent too! Really creative dishes on the menu - and having avoided dairy for a few years now, I actually double checked with the waitress that food was indeed vegan. No 'soya' aftertastes here - they were delicious food combinations, and suberp 'real' desserts! Highly recommend!

The daily special salad was unusual and delicious. The service was excellent. The main courses were unique and satisfying. Overall, a special restaurant. It was a great first meal in NYC for my wife on the first day of her first trip to the Big Apple.

Really enjoyed avery single bite of my meal. Seaweed salad, cucumber tartar, Maroccan chickpea cake were delicious. Also there organic wine list and drinks are amazing. Very pleasant and helpful staff. The only con is salad portion was on a small side. I was expecting a bigger size for $16.

Went there because of the other reviews I had seen and wanted to finish off our USA trip with a nice meal. So after searching and reading reviews went to this place. For starters we had dumplings steamed and vegie rolls these were both nice and then for main I had the portobello sandwich which was soggy bread, one mushroom... More

We visit NYC 6-10 times every year where our favorite vegan restaurant is candle 79. They feature creative and tasty choices in a more upscale setting than most vegan or vegetarian eateries. The servers are New York in their attitudes -,knowledgeable and a bit edgy. Prices are not modest, however they are appropriate for the fare.

We have eaten at Candle 79 on each trip to NYC. Don't let the vegan theme fool you. This will be some of the best, most creative food you have ever eaten. What can you say about a place that makes their own ginger ale. The wait staff is terrific and it is a great complement to a trip to... More

We really enjoyed this place, the waitress was just fantastic, she made great recommendations and was very personable. We both had salads and entrees.I had the avocado/cucumber tartare, which was just fantastic and then the cornmeal crusted tofu medallions, they were really good, and just enough for me. We shared a dessert and were both full when we left. We will... More
