This is my favorite spot to meet a friend for brunch in this area. The waiters are genuinely warm and polite, which is not a common experience of mine. It has a nice cozy, atmosphere with a French twist. The food is quite good and reasonably priced. Yes, at times, it can be noisy during peak hours, but that's to... More

We shared a couple of meals here--one dinner and two breakfasts. Food is excellent; the French toast is divine: crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, with just a touch of vanilla. Our first two servers were on top of things, the third a little on the slow side. But, it felt like Paris, from the striped-shirted wait staff,... More

Had Sunday brunch at French Roast - managed to get a table at 12.30pm as the line was already out the door. It's busy (always) and buzzy and you do have to shout a bit to be heard but the food is excellent with a new menu. I had a rose petal mimosa with grenadine which came in a tall... More

Both locations are steeped in romantic atmosphere. Great place to bring a date or to relax with good friends. Love that they're open 24 hours and the food is good. The service could be more conscientious, but it's not bad enough to be a deal-breaker. Overall an excellent value.

The homemade chicken sausage at breakfast, fresh salad replacing potatoes on the egg platters still draw me to this place, but it's getting harder and harder to enjoy a meal when the service ranges from indifferent to surly. Getting a coffee refill, asking for the baguette supposed to accompany a dish on the menu, even getting the bill, is very... More

As good of French Toast as you would want with tasty crisp hickory bacon on the side. Greeting and service friendly and constant throughout the meal. Everyone in our group liked their selection.

Although a bit cramped, this is a place were I would lioke to go again. The paste being very tasty, a nice collection of European beers (Belgian in my case, but brewed in ths US), informal service and of course the location (Greenwich Village). I particularly enjoyed the mix of all clientele, this was one of the most NY places... More

But who cares? My grilled flounder with a mustard dressing and julienned vegetables was worth eating again. And my partner really enjoyed his special entree: Cajun-spiced grilled chicken breast. My after-dinner espresso macchiato was one of the best I've had in any city.

I recently enjoyed a 4-night stay at the Washinton Square Hotel in Greenwich Village and visited this nearby place for breakfast every morning. Service was good and the food was great. I especially enjoyed my orders of well-done hickory smoked bacon. Very tasty. I look forward to visiting French Roast on future trips.

Would have been 4 stars, because the food was very good but we were let down a couple of times by a particular waiter (although, to be fair, a more experienced one did resolve the small issues we had). We were recommended this place by a local we asked as we walked down 5th ave nearby. It was nicely fitted... More
